Christy Reed says she is open for business at the far right bottom corner of the Royal Center.
People in need of a new blender or a new set of wine glasses have an additional outlet to search for quality second-hand merchandise with the opening of Valdez Resale and Consignment.
“It’s been fun getting it open,” Christy Reed, the new entrepreneur said just days after the store’s November 1 opening. “We’ve gotten a lot of positive feedback.”
The store is well-lit, clean and organized with shelves stocked with house wares, small appliances, select clothing and whatever people have in Valdez they wish to sell.
Though much of the merchandise on the shelves came from Reed’s home, many in Valdez have already brought in items to sell in the store.
“A lot of it was just my items,” Reed said, “..just trying to downsize.”
Like any resale shop, selection changes from day to day, depending on what is sold one day, or put on consignment the next.
“I think we have a variety of many different items,” she said. “I tell people the only thing I can’t fit in here is a car.”
So far, house wares and small appliances have been the store’s best sellers.
Reed says consignments are split 50/50, with a higher cut for consignees on “higher end” items.
“We have two customers,” she said, those buying, those selling.
“I want to work with the customer and whatever they’re comfortable with,” when it comes to pricing, Reed said.
The store is open 10 a.m. until 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, and 11 until 2 on Saturdays.
“I kind of have a daily yard sale,” Reed joked, and asked readers to come have a look at the store.
“I welcome them to come in and have fun with it,” she said.
