Valdez Chiropractic gets new digs and doctor
When Valdez Chiropractic moved from its old location to a new office on Meals Ave, it also brought Constance Jerz, its new chiropractor.
Jerz comes to Valdez by way of Wasilla, where she practiced her trade for the past three years.
“Part of my job was to travel with sports teams,” she said.
That was how Jerz, a certified chiropractic sports physician, first came to Valdez. She liked the town - and its snow - and kept her ear to the ground for an opportunity to live and work here.
Before coming to Alaska, Jerz said she’d “pretty much lived in the sunny spots,” and wanted to experience “real winters.”

Chiropractor Constance Jerz made the move to Meals Ave with Valdez Chiropractic when the office relocated earlier this year.
Originally from Arizona, Jerz graduated from the University of Arizona and earned her chiropractic degree from Parker College of Chiropractic in Dallas. She was a pole vault athlete in college and admits she sometimes needed a chiropractor, which helped guide her later career aspirations.
“I needed one a lot,” she laughed, “It kind of inspired me.”
Jerz said she prefers manual adjustments, but is skilled in the various instruments used in modern chiropractic medicine. She says the services at Valdez Chiropractic have not changed substantially with the office’s move, but there is a push to further patient services.
“We’re looking to expand to include Medicare and Medicaid” patients she said. “Hopefully next year.”
