The City of Valdez Baler Facility would like to remind you what can go into a dumpster verses what must be brought to the Baler facility.

DUMPSTERS ARE FOR HOUSEHOLD WASTE ONLY.

• Kitchen Trash

• Food Waste

• Paper products

• Plastics

• Clothing

ITEMS NOT ALLOWED IN DUMPSTERS-Accepted at the Baler 500 S. Sawmill

• Wood

• Metal

• Oily Waste

• Hazardous Materials

HAZARDOUS WASTE as defined by City Code 8.08.020 cannot be put in your trash cans or dumpsters.

'Hazardous Waste" means waste that is capable of causing injury, disease or impairment of health or property damage, including but not limited to, poisons, pesticides, acids, caustics, infectious or pathological waste, radioactive materials, explosive or highly flammable materials, oil and petroleum products, batteries and burning or smoldering materials, or any item which, when disposed of into landfill, will cause contamination of groundwater or cause the groundwater to not meet state drinking water standards.

NOTICE OF PORTS & HARBOR COMMISSION VACANCIES

The City of Valdez is seeking applications from members of the community who are interested in Ports and Harbor needs for our City. There are 3 vacancies on the Port & Harbor Commission. The vacancies are all due to the expiration of terms. The individuals appointed to this commission shall serve a three (3) year term, expiring on June 30, 2017.

The Port and Harbor Commission may recommend to the city council policies relating to the city's port and harbor and transportation issues including, but not limited to seaport, airport and land terminals.

Any person desiring to submit his/her application for consideration by the City Council for appointment to this commission is invited to do so.

Applications may be obtained at City Hall or online at http://www.ci.valdez.ak.us and can be submitted to the City Clerk, by mail at PO Box 307, Valdez, AK 99686, by FAX at 835-2992 Attention: City Clerk, or by email to spierce@ci.valdez.ak.net. PLANNING & ZONING COMMISSION VACANCIES

1 VACANCY

The City of Valdez is seeking applications from members of the community who are interested in Planning and Zoning needs for our City. The open position is due to a resignation and will serve the remainder of the three-year term ending on November 1, 2016.

The Planning and Zoning Commission is an advisory commission to the Valdez City Council.

The Planning and Zoning Commission has the authority to prepare and submit to the city council for its approval a master plan for the physical development of the city; The Planning and Zoning Commission shall prepare and recommend to the city council a comprehensive zoning ordinance and map, or propose amendments or revisions thereof; The Commission shall act as the platting board and exercise other functions with respect to land subdivisions, planning and zoning as may be prescribed elsewhere in this code or any other ordinance of the city, not inconsistent with the provisions of the city charter.
