Domino effect: city meetings shuffled around
Holidays and official travel forces council to reschedule
A large number of city officials will be out of town the week of Nov. 17, which set off a chain reaction regarding public meetings.
The city council is mandated to meet twice a month, and it normally meets the first and third and Monday each month. That will change until January.
City manager John Hozey, the city clerks and a number of elected officials will be attending functions in Anchorage for the annual Alaska Municipal League conference, which runs Nov.17-21.
City council will meet on Tuesday, November 25, at council chambers because the board of education will be meeting there Monday, November 24.
Then there is the month of December.
Council is scheduled to have its first meeting on Tuesday, December 9. Its second meeting will follow a few days later on Monday, December 15, its last in 2014.
To complicate matters, the council is in the midst of its annual budget hearings, which are Wednesday and Thursday nights.
