Colver hosting meet and greet
House rep visiting Valdez for mid-session visit

Rep. Jim Colver, who represents Valdez and District 9 in the Alaska House, will host a meet and greet at the Legislative Information Office this week.
Colver will be out and about in the area in the coming days as the legislature marks the half-way point in the scheduled 90-day session.
According to the Associated Press, this is also the week when some legislators will head to Washington, D.C., for meetings related to energy and economic issues.
"Six legislators are expected to attend, a small number compared to recent years," the AP said. "Other lawmakers have been excused for visits to their districts, but both the House and Senate are expected to continue with their work."
Colver's meet and greet will this Friday, from 2:30-4:30 p.m. at the LIO in the state building on Meals Ave. according to his office.
In related news, the AP also reports that House Finance has three days of public testimony planned on a draft of the operating budget. House Education plans to hear a bill that would exempt teachers from jury duty during the school term. And the Anchorage office of federal coordinator for Alaska gas line projects is set to close Friday.
