Hazard: DOT was contacted to sand the bridge areas on Dayville Road due to icy conditions. Three vehicles had lost control after hitting the black ice over the bridge. Winter is upon us, drive with caution!

MVA – D: VPD received a report that a boat was blocking the inbound lane around mile post 31. The boat had come off the trailer that it was being towed on. Glennallen Troopers as well our Valdez Trooper was notified. The boat was pushed to the side of the road so traffic could pass.

Mistaken Property: Dispatch was notified by an individual who had taken the wrong bicycle when leaving the bar the night prior. The bike was the same brand as his, but was a female’s bike. Wanted to make note of it in case someone reported a theft before he could return it.

Arrested: Matthew H. Roberts, DOB: 1/26/85 of Valdez, for Driving While License Revoked. Mr. Roberts was booked into the Valdez Jail and then released on $500 Bail.

Summons: Christopher L. Mansfield, DOB: 10/27/95 for Minor Operating After Consuming and MCA Habitual.

Arrested: Leah M. Lemieux, DOB: 8/9/97, of Valdez for Driving Under the Influence. Ms. Lemieux’s breath test result was a .121. She was booked into the Valdez Jail and released to a sober individual on $500 Bail.

Sex Offender: A known sex offender was reported to be in Valdez in violation of his conditions of release. The subject was not located and thought to be back in Wasilla.

Intoxicated Pedestrian: An adult male was reported to be lying in the road down by the Harbor, possibly injured. Officers responded and determined the man was extremely intoxicated and was turned over to EMS with minor injuries.

Suicide: VPD Dispatch received a 911 call reporting that a male had shot himself. Officers and EMS responded to the residence. (See stand alone press release by the City Clerk’s office)

Theft & Trespassing: An individual reported that a former roommate was entering her residence and letting her dogs out as well as taking items from the home. Officers contacted the suspect. Taken items and the releasing of the animals could not be validated. The suspect was given a trespass warning for the residence.

Welfare Check: VPD dispatch received a report of a young female walking in the rain between Robe River and the Airport for the past three hours. Officers made contact with the individual who was determined to be fine, but looking for a place to stay.

Possible Drunk Driver: VPD received a report that a male who drives Silver Dodge drinks and drives all the time. Officers did not make contact with the individual.

Arrested: Michael J. Hedley, DOB: 9/4/86 for Violating Domestic Violence Protective Order. Hedley was also remanded for Felony Probation Violation as a result of the Violating DVPO Charge.

Citizen Assist: A VPD officer assisted two small children who were locked out of their house. The parent was contacted and returned home to let them in.

Property Damage: VPD dispatch received a report that some contractors working on property out in Robe River knocked a tree over onto a residence. The owner of the property and contractors were later identified and information was exchanged.

Found Property: A bag with personal information and keys belonging to Cody Schell was found next to a dumpster. These items can be picked up at the Police Department by the owner.

Criminal Mischief: An individual reported that someone had cut the chain to the C & D pit. If you have any information about this crime, please contact VPD dispatch.

Welfare Check: VPD received a request to check on a male approximately 55 years old with grubby clothes on who was stumbling around. Officers responded and could not locate anyone matching the description.

Agency Assist: VPD received many Orders to Show Cause for individuals not showing up for Jury Duty as required. Once the orders are served and the individual does not show up for the new court date, they may see a future warrant for their arrest. So, folks, please show up for jury duty!

Parking Issues: VPD dispatch received a report that a vehicle with an attached trailer was taking up 4 parking spaces down at the Small Boat Harbor. VPD officer responded, and determined that there were plenty of parking spaces around the vehicle.

Bear Incident: A driver reported to VPD that he had hit and killed a black bear when it ran in front of him on the highway. The bear was disposed of the following day.

Disturbance/Aggressive Animal: VPD dispatch received a report from an individual that two Rottweiler’s came after him and his dog. The complainant took out his knife in defense. He then stated that the owner of the Rottweiler’s hit him and took his knife. Officers attempted to locate the Complainant and Suspect but were unable to.

10-5-15 Valdez EMS responded to an individual having difficulty breathing. The patient was treated at the scene and transported to Providence Valdez Medical Center.

10-5-15 Valdez EMS assisted an individual who needed help returning from the hospital.

10-5-15 Valdez EMS was requested for a medivac flight.

10-6-15 Valdez Fire Department responded to a fire at the Valdez Museum. The fire was extinguished and the cause was undetermined.

10-6-15 Valdez Fire Department responded to smoke scare at the CVEA warehouse. After investigation of the area, the cause of the smoke was due to equipment starting up.

10-6-15 Valdez EMS responded to an individual who had fallen and needed medical attention. The patient was treated at the scene and transported to Providence Valdez Medical Center.

10-6-15 Valdez EMS responded to an individual with a fatal injury. The deceased was transported to Providence Valdez Medical Center.

10-9-15 Valdez EMS responded to an individual having chest pains. The patient was treated at the scene and transported to Providence Valdez Medical Center.
