Assist Medical: Officers assisted EMS with a woman having difficulty breathing.
Arrested: Monika A. White, DOB 12/06/72 of Valdez, was arrested early Monday morning for Driving Under the Influence after officers observed White’s vehicle high centered in a snowbank. Officers contacted White and continued their investigation which led to her arrest. White registered a breath alcohol content of .091.
VID: Dispatch received a report of a vehicle that drove into a ber. Officers contacted the occupants to make sure they were alright.
Traffic Complaint: Officers contacted a driver that was reported to have crossed the center line and almost causing head on collisions. The driver stated she was continuously pulling over to let others pass because she was driving slow. No alcohol was detected.
Agency Assist: Anchorage Police Department requested assistance in tracking down a vehicle that was involved in approximately $50,000 worth of damage to an overpass in Anchorage.
Arrested: Cody D. Honea, DOB 09/18/92 of Valdez, was arrested on a $250 bench warrant for Failure to Appear for Calender Call on 11/23/15 on an original charge of Violating Conditions of Release. He was released on bail.
Assist Medical: Officers assisted EMS with a woman seizing.
Arrested: Donna R. Mounsey, DOB 05/22/80 of Valdez, was arrested Monday evening for Violating Conditions of Release of her original charge of Driving Under the Influence. Mounsey was out of jail on bail conditions set by the courts which included to not consume alcohol. When officers contacted her that evening, she had been under the influence of alcohol. Mounsey was released on bail.
Traffic Hazard: Officers contacted the owner of a vehicle that was parked on the side of the road with dim flashers on to make sure everyone was alright and to find out what was being done to attempt to move the vehicle from the road. The owner said she would take care of it the following day.
Welfare Check: Dispatch received a report of an intoxicated woman unable to care for her young child at her home. Officers contacted the individual and deteremined her fit to care for her child.
Serve Time: Matthew H. Roberts, DOB 01/26/85 of Valdez, checked into the Valdez Jail to serve time on an original charge of Driving While License Revoked.
Fraud: Dispatch has received several reports of an IRS scam in Valdez. Primarily, the calls are stating that the individual receiving the call owes the IRS money. It is important to know that according to information published by the Internal Revenue Service, contact with taxpayers will NOT be in the form of an unexpected phone call. Instead, initial contact will be made through official correspondence sent through mail.
Theft of Vehicle: A vehicle was reported stolen from a local residence. It was later reported that the vehicle was impounded for snow removal.
Arrested: Larry J. Reynolds, DOB 05/07/59 of Valdez, was arrested on a $100 civil warrant for Failure to Appear for an Order to Show Cause hearing. Reynolds posted bail and was released.
Theft of Property: A caller reported prescription medication stolen from her home. This case is under investigation.
Animal Bite: Dispatch received a report of a dog bite. The ACO responded and put the dog under quarantine.
Animal at Large: A caller reported a possible St. Bernard dog at large around Eklutna St with no collar. The ACO was unable to locate the dog.
Possible Drunk Driver: Officers responded to a report of an intoxicated individual on a snowmachine leaving a local establishment. They could not find anyone matching the provided description.
Arrested: Gavin Z. Delozier, DOB 01/03/92 of Valdez, was arrested Thursday evening for Driving While License Suspended after officers witnessed him driving knowing that he didn’t have a license from previous contacts. Officers checked with dispatch to confirm Delozier’s license was suspended and he was placed under arrest and transported to the Valdez Jail where he was held on a $500 bail.
Arrested: Therese M. Salzar, DOB 04/19/60 of Valdez, was arrested Thursday evening for Assault 4 after dispatch received a report that Salazar was intoxicated and attempting to drive off from her location in a vehicle. Officers responded to the scene and conducted their investigation resulting in Salazar’s arrest. Salazar was held overnight at the Valdez jail on the domestic violence offense with no bail until going to court the following day.
Possible Drunk Driver: Dispatch received a report of a possibly intoxicated male leaving a local establishment in his vehicle. Officers searched the area but were unable to locate a vehicle matching the description provided.
Assist Medical: Officers assisted EMS with a patient that was possibly intoxicated and having difficulty breathing.
Agency Assist: Office of Child Services requested VPD assistance with a child interview.
Agency Assist: Anchorage Juvenile Probation Office requested assistance with arresting a juvenile in Valdez.
Civil Standby: Officers were present while an individual retrieved personal items from their home per court order.
Serve Time: Justin W. Bedford, DOB 03/14/72 of Valdez, checked into the Valdez Jail to serve time on an original charge of Driving Under the Influence.
Arrested: Haze V. Wiliams II, DOB 04/26/87 of Valdez, was arrested early Saturday morning for Criminal Trespass 2nd Degree after dispatch received a report of a disturbance on property that Williams was previously trespassed from. Officers responded to the scene but Williams had already left. Later, dispatch received a second complaint that Williams was on the property again and was intoxicated. Officers contacted Williams and placed him under arrest. He was transported to the Valdez Jail and held on a $250 bail.
Minor Consuming Alcohol: Daniela Princz-Pineda (DOB 08/03/95) was issued a citation for MCA Habitual and Randi K. McAlister (DOB 02/10/95) was issued a citation for MCA Repeat after officers contacted a group of individuals outside a residence while attempting to locate another individual. The two girls were determined to be under the legal drinking age limit and subsequently issued citations with court appearance dates.
MVA: Dispatch received a report of a single vehicle rollover in the canyon. The driver was the sole occupant of the vehicle and didn’t report any injuries but EMS was requested anyway as a precaution. Officers on scene issued par forms for the damage and a tow truck for the vehicle.
Agency Assist: Officers assisted VFD with a report of a possible chimney fire.
Welfare Check: Dispatch received a call from a woman reporting her son as an overdue motorist. Dispatch contacted Trooper personnel and DOT workers to find out if any vehicles in the ditch or accidents had been reported. The caller later called back and stated she made contact with her son and that he was still on his way home. The individual had stopped to help another motorist out of the ditch.
Arrested: Tristan L. Barnes, DOB 07/21/94 of Valdez, was arrested for Misconduct Involving Controlled Substance 4 and Driving While License Revoked. Officers observed Barnes driving a vehicle and knew he didn’t have a valid drivers license from previous contacts. Officers confirmed with dispatch that Barnes’ license was revoked and executed a traffic stop which led to his arrest. Barnes was transported to the Valdez Jail where a continued investigation led to an additional charge of MICS 4, which is a Felony. Barnes was held at the Valdez Jail for arraignment. Bail was set by the court at $500.00
MVA: Dispatch received a report of a vehicle striking a local business. The driver left their contact information with the store employee before leaving the scene. Officers have attempted to locate the suspect driver, but do not have current resident information for him. This case is under investigation.
Parking: Officers observed a vehicle that was in the street that looked like it had died while attempting to drive it. The owner of the vehicle was contacted who stated that he was trying to move it per request of his landlord when the engine died while it was in the street. The owner was attempting to find help to push it back into it’s parking spot.
11-30-15 Valdez EMS responded to a medical request. The patient was treated at the scene, but declined transportation for additional medical care.
12-3-15 Valdez EMS responded to a medical request call for an individual with a broken ankle. The patient was treated at the scene and transported to Providence Valdez Medical Center.
12-03-15 Valdez EMS responded to a medical request call for an individual with a head laceration. The patient was treated at the scene and transported to Providence Valdez Medical Center.
12-4-15 Valdez EMS responded to a medical request call. The patient was treated at the scene and transported to Providence Valdez Medical Center.
12-4-15 Valdez EMS responded to a medivac request. The medivac was cancelled.
12-4-15 Valdez EMS assisted with a medivac request.
12-5-15 Valdez EMS responded to a single vehicle accident. No injuries were reported.
12-5-15 Valdez Fire Department responded to an electrical fire. The fire was extinguished by the owner. After arriving the Fire Department investigated the area for the cause of the fire.
