Aleutian Village deal with city is topic of work session this Tuesday
Public encouraged to attend but comments will be taken later at regular meeting
The proposed deal that will stop or delay the closure of Aleutian Village Trailer Park will be before the city council in two parts this Tuesday.
A work session where council will discuss the pros and cons of the proposed agreement between the city and the Aleut Corp. will take place before the regular council meeting.
"Park residents and concerned citizens are invited to attend the Council work session and regular meeting on Tuesday March 15, 2016 at 6:00 p.m. in Council chambers where the proposed Aleutian Village MOU will be discussed," the city said on its website. "Public comment is encouraged during the regular meeting."
This means those concerned about the deal will be able to comment during the regular meeting when the matter comes up to a council vote.
At the last meeting between city administration and park residents, city manager Dennis Ragsdale said that the understanding calls for the Aleut Corp. to continue to run the park for two years, if the city believes it can buy the land from DOT. If not, the eviction of all trailers will proceed at the end of September, 2016 instead of August, 2016.
