Expect construction on East Pioneer Drive during summer 2016, to include traffic delays and detours.
The construction area will include East Pioneer Drive between the Richardson Highway and Meals, as well as the intersection of Meals and Pioneer.
Project upgrades will include new pavement, sidewalks, curbs, gutters, and improved drainage. A new sidewalk will be added on the north side of Pioneer, providing a connection to the Richardson Highway bike trail.

PROVIDENCE VALDEZ MEDICAL CENTER HEALTH ADVISORY COUNCIL
ONE (1) VACANCY TO SERVE A FIVE MONTH TERM
The City of Valdez is currently accepting applications to fill a vacancy due to resignation on the Providence Valdez Medical Center Health Advisory Council. This position is appointed by the Valdez City Council and shall serve five months, completing the time remaining in the vacant position’s term. The selected appointee may reapply in October 2016 to serve a subsequent full three year term.
The Health Advisory Council (HAC) and its members provide feedback and guidance to Providence regarding the operation of community health care facilities. All guidance received by Providence from the HAC is non-binding and advisory only. The HAC is comprised of qualified representatives of the community serving with the intent of assisting the Valdez Medical Center in its mission of providing quality health care in Valdez and improving community health and wellness. The HAC serves in an advisory role in policy formation, strategic development and oversight of health care programs and services. Regular meetings are held monthly with occasional special events where attendance is expected.

VALDEZ REGULAR MUNICIPAL ELECTION
There are four ways which you may cast an absentee ballot for the City of Valdez Regular Municipal Election to be held May 3, 2016. These can be described as follows:
1. Voting by mail
Forms are currently available at City Hall or online at http://www.ci.valdez.ak.us. The request for an absentee ballot by mail must include the following:
A. your full Alaska address
B. the address to which the ballot is to be sent
C. your signature
It is advisable to apply for your absentee by mail ballot at least 4 weeks prior to the election to assure the voted ballot reaches the Clerk’s office before May 3, 2016.
2. Absentee voting by electronic transmission (EMAIL OR FAX)
Please contact the City Clerk’s Office at 834-3468 for instructions regarding absentee voting by email or fax. You may request a ballot by email or fax beginning Monday, April 18, 2016. Voting by email or fax will be conducted by the City Clerk, Monday through Friday, from the hours of 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
3. Absentee voting through a personal representative
A qualified elector who is physically disabled may request an absentee ballot by mail, or apply for an absentee ballot through a personal representative Monday, April 18, 2016 through the date of the election on May 3, 2016. The form for application is available at the City Clerk's office.
4. Absentee voting in person
A qualified elector may vote at the City Clerk’s Office during regular office hours, beginning Monday, April 18, 2016, 8:30 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. The last day to vote before the City Clerk will be Monday, May 2, 2016, prior to 5:00 p.m.
