Domestic Disturbance: The Valdez Police Department received a report of a mother and daughter having a dispute. No charges filed.
Theft of Property: The theft of lumber from behind the Acres Quick Trip in the last week or so worth approximately $800.00 was reported. If anyone has any information regarding this incident please contact the Valdez Police Department.
Bar Disturbance: VPD received a report of a disturbance outside a local bar. Upon arrival officers had a cab called for individuals that where being rowdy.
Theft of Property: VPD received a report from a local retail store that someone removed a $500.00 price tag from a wolverine hide and told the clerk it was a fox hide and only paid $100. If anyone has any information regarding this incident please contact Police Dispatch.
Traffic Complaint: Dispatch received a report of a vehicle full of teenagers traveling at a high rate of speed and passing the complainant. Responding officers were able to identify the vehicle and driver, after speaking with the complainant a warning was issued to the driver.
Order to Show Cause: VPD received 8 Orders To Show Cause (OTSC) from The Valdez Court for a Failure to Respond to Jury Summons hearing on April 15th 2016. Officers are serving the OTSC’s as they are able to locate the individuals.
Welfare Check: VPD received a report from a concerned citizen that there was a man lying on the cement in the John Kelsey Dock uplands area. When contacted by officers the man stated the cement was a nice warm place to lay while waiting for the ferry.
Disturbance: Dispatch received a report of two men and one woman arguing outside a local business. When officers arrived on scene all parties had already left the area.
Arrested: Janet S. Johnson, DOB: 10/19/85 of Valdez, was arrested for Assault 4 when officers responded to a call of an assault in progress at a local residence. Ms. Johnson remained in custody until she was arraigned the following day and posted bail.
Gunshots: VPD received a report of possible gunshots in the Robe River Subdivision area. Officers responded and searched the area and found no evidence of gunshots. One resident that had heard them believed it was fireworks.
Trespassing: A caller reported that there was an intoxicated woman trespassing on his porch banging on his door. When officers arrived the woman had left the premises. Officers patrolled the area and where unable to locate the woman.
Possible Drunk Driver: VPD received a report of a possible drunk driver on the Richardson Highway near Dayville Road driving a older white pickup. Officers responded to the area and did not find any vehicles matching the description.
Found Property: A tan colored clutch purse containing ID and other items belonging to Morgan Gantz was turned into Police Dispatch. To claim this item please stop by Valdez Police Department with proof of ownership.
Disturbance: The Valdez Police Dept. received a report of someone playing his music loudly with his door open. When officers arrived the man was sitting on his porch with music at an acceptable level. The man agreed to keep the music level low.
Welfare Check: VPD received a request to check the welfare of an elderly man who had not been heard from for seven to ten days. Officers contacted the man at his residence and determined that he was fine.
4-19-16 Valdez EMS responded to an individual needing medical assistance. The patient was treated and transported to Providence Valdez Medical Center.
4-19-16 Valdez Fire Department responded to investigate a fire call at the USCG dock. One of the ship engines had started up caused a massive amount of smoke, there was no fire in the area.
4-21-16 Valdez Fire Department responded to investigate a fire call. There was smoke in the area, but no fire was found.
4-22-16 Valdez Fire Department responded to investigate a fire on Pacific. After investigating the area, it was deemed a false alarm.
4-23-16 Valdez Fire Department responded to investigate a fire call at the Valdez Senior Center. After investigating the area, it was deemed a false alarm.
