Disturbance – Other: A caller reported hearing screaming and yelling in the parking lot of a convenience store, possibly from a fight in progress. Responding Officers found an agitated and intoxicated adult male who was subsequently trespassed from the property.

MIP/MIC: While patrolling in the area of the Valdez Glacier, Officers encountered several juveniles who were drinking alcohol in addition to being out past curfew. Five citations for Minor Consuming Alcohol and six citations for Curfew for Minors were issued in addition to two people being summonsed.

Summonsed: David Allen Smith, DOB 07/19/1997, of Valdez, was summonsed to appear in court for the charge of Minor Consuming Alcohol 1st Offense.

Summonsed: Ramsey Cheyenne Barton, DOB 04/08/1998, of Valdez, was summonsed to appear in court for the charge of Minor Consuming Alcohol 1st Offense.

Arrested: Ashley Sierra Morrow, DOB 12/25/1995, of Anchorage, was arrested for Driving Under the Influence and was also cited for Minor Consuming Alcohol 1st Offense. At the time of arrest, she registered a blood-alcohol content of .102

Camping: A group of campers were reported illegally camping upstream from the Betty Cato Bridge. The Animal Control Officer left notices on the tents advising them to leave the area.

Trespassing: A local business reported someone who had previously been trespassed from the property had returned to the area.

Arrested: William Andrew Carmack, DOB 02/11/1960, of Valdez, was arrested on two charges of Criminal Trespass 2nd Degree.

Public Assist: A caller reported being locked inside a local business by accident after the owner forgot they were there and left. Officers contacted the owner of the building who had keys to the back door and the customer was released shortly thereafter.

Arrested: Ashley Sierra Morrow, DOB 12/25/1995, of Anchorage, was arrested on the charge of Violating Conditions of Release for an original misdemeanor charge of Driving Under the Influence.

Welfare Check: A concerned caller reported a man who appeared to be sleeping on a bench outside of the airport. Officer responded and contacted the man who had already left the immediate area because he didn’t want to appear to be loitering.

Family Issues: Officers separated two individuals for the evening following a verbal altercation.

Trespassing: Officers issued a trespass warning to an individual.

Lost Property: A Kyocera cell phone was reported lost somewhere in the Valdez area. If found, please drop off at the Valdez Police Department.

Disturbance – Noise: Officers informed an individual wanting to make a noise complaint to call when the disturbance was occurring.

Lost Property: A blue Next Cruiser bicycle is missing. It was last seen at Safeway after being loaned to a friend. If found, please call the VPD.

Trespassing: A local business requested that Officers trespass an individual from their property.

ETOH Pedestrian: A caller reported two intoxicated males ‘messing around’ with his property and being belligerent. Officers’ contacted one individual, but the other one ran off.

Serve Time: Ashley Sierra Morrow, DOB 12/25/1995, of Anchorage, is serving 30 days with 27 suspended on a DUI charge and 1 day on a charge of Violating Conditions of Release.

Theft Property: A tent was reported stolen sometime between 9am and 2pm. If you have any information about this case, please call the Valdez Police Department.

Animal at Large: A black Labrador dog was reported running at large on Aspen Way. Responding Officers were unable to locate any animals in the area.

Disorderly: Officers contacted an individual and gave him a verbal warning for Disorderly Conduct after receiving complaints.

Trespassing: A man was trespassed from a church after receiving complaints.

Welfare Check: Officers conducted a welfare check on an individual after receiving a report that the individual was acting erratic and walking into traffic. Officers located the individual and determined he was okay.

Bear Incident: A caller reported 4 bears on the bike path with multiple people in the vicinity. Officers responded, but the bears had already moved on. Officers contacted people on the bike path and warned them that bears were in the area.

Flood Watch: A resident in the Alpine Woods Subdivision notified dispatch that there is flooding at the end of the dike and water in their backyard. Officers determined the flooding wasn’t exceeding levels experienced in the past.

MIP/MIC: Officers responded following the report of two young males creating a disturbance by being very loud, vile and yelling at each other on W. Klutina Street. Tristin Harvey, DOB: 2/16/97, of Copper Center was issued a summons for Minor Consuming.

Domestic Assault: A caller reported hearing a loud noise in the hallway outside their apartment. Officers responded, found evidence of criminal mischief and made one arrest. Arrested: Nickolas Shaen Lynn Mills, DOB 06/03/1987, of Valdez, was arrested for Criminal Mischief 4th Degree and Interfering with the Report of Domestic Violence.

Animal Trap: The Animal Control Officer provided homeowners with an animal live trap to use following a complaint regarding a cat sized marmot chewing through electrical wires of a vehicle parked on the property.

ATV: Officers gave a verbal warning to an individual who was reported as operating an ATV through the Park Strip in a non-motorized use area.

Arrested: William Andrew Carmack, DOB 02/11/1960, was arrested on the following charges: DV Assault 4th Degree, DV Criminal Trespass and Violating Conditions of Release on a misdemeanor charge.

Found Property: A black Iphone was turned in to the VPD after being found at MP 74 of the Richardson Highway. Please call with identifiers to claim.

Fish & Game: A caller reported there was a marmot trapped in their vehicle growling at them and they wanted assistance. The Animal Control Officer responded to the scene and apprehended the aggressive animal before anyone was injured.

Animal Impound: The Animal Control Officer impounded a chubby and deaf dog after attempts to locate the owner were unsuccessful. It was reported as wandering at large in Valdez Mobile Home Park.

Open Door: It was reported that a connex containing snowmachines and dirt bikes had an open door. Officers left a message for the owner and secured the doors as best they could.

Possible 10-55: The VPD received a report of a possibly intoxicated driver heading towards Valdez from the Robe Lake area. Arrested: Brielle Michelle Faith Dawson, DOB 12/24/1996, of Valdez, was arrested on the charge of Minor Operating after Consuming and cited for Minor Consuming Alcohol 1st Offense.

Summonsed: Veronica Lindsey Hursh, DOB 01/23/1997, of Valdez, was summonsed to appear on the charge of Minor Consuming Alcohol 2nd Offense.

Arrested: Natasha Lynn Bujan, DOB 07/25/1995, of Valdez, turned herself in to the VPD to be arrested on a $500 Bench Warrant for Failure to Appear for a preliminary hearing on the original charge of Arson 3rd Degree, Criminal Mischief 3rd Degree and Failure to Report a Fire.

Citizen Contact: Officers contacted an individual who appeared to be having some difficulties on their skateboard due to alcohol. The Officer determined the individual was okay and able to make it home on their own accord.

Disturbance – Noise: A caller reported the harbor project was running heavy machinery and keeping herself and her guests awake. Officers responded, measured the decibel levels of noise occurring and contacted the appropriate agency to deal with the compliant.

Trespassing: Officers served a trespass warning on an individual after receiving a complaint.

Bear Incident: Employees had to delay their work duties due to several brown bears that had made themselves comfortable in the area to be worked in and showed no signs of moving on.

Bear Incident: A very large male black bear was reported to be acting aggressively towards people who were hiking in the vicinity of the old stamp mill in Mineral Creek Canyon. The Animal Control Officer responded to notify any persons hiking or camping in the vicinity.

Traffic Complaint: A report of a side-by-side vehicle being operated with unrestrained children including one being held in an adults lap was reported. Officers responded and issued a warning to the driver despite denials that anything of that nature had occurred.

Assist Medical: Officers assisted EMS Personnel with a reported motor vehicle accident involving a motorized wheelchair and subsequently made one arrest.

Arrested: Alexander John Kompkoff, DOB 05/17/1984, of Valdez, was arrested for Driving Under the Influence and Reckless Endangerment. He registered a blood alcohol content of .423 at the time of arrest.

Welfare Check: A concerned parent requested a welfare check on their child. Officers determined the child was okay.

Agency Assist: Officers assisted at the scene of the mobile home fires in Valdez Mobile Home Park.

Animal DOA: The Animal Control Officer retrieved the dog that perished in the trailer fire.

Bear Incident: The Animal Control Officer responded to a complaint of a bear right outside a camper trailer door, but the bear had already moved on.

Bear Incident: A caller reported a brown bear cub that appeared to be in distress, possibly looking for its mother and crossing the highway back and forth at MP 4 of the Richardson Highway. Responding Officers did not find the bear as it had moved out of the area.

Abandoned Vehicle: Two beat up looking vehicles that appeared inoperable were reported parked alongside Homestead Road for over a week. Officers determined they belonged to the home they were parked in front of and no further action was taken.

Traffic Complaint: A complaint was filed regarding driver driving ‘aggressively’ and being ‘a jerk.’

Bear Incident: A bear was reported as repeatedly coming through a residential yard and at one point breaking a window after jumping on a vehicle.

Reckless Driving: Officers contacted a driver after a compliant of reckless driving was received by Dispatch. Officers gave the driver a verbal warning and discussed the dangers of unsafe driving especially with all the construction in the area.

Disturbance – Noise: A noise disturbance was reported being caused by a tractor being operated after the noise ordinance was in effect. Officers contacted the individual who needed the machinery for a short period of time and who agreed to keep it off the rest of the evening.

Flood Watch: While on routine patrol, Officers noticed the Valdez Glacier Lake had overflowed its banks by about ¼ of a mile and Valdez Glacier Stream was raging. Public Works was notified and work immediately began to mitigate any damage caused by overflow.

Fraud Credit Card: Officers are investigating a report of fraudulent charges accrued on a bank debit card.

VPD received a report from Anchorage Police, that an individual was headed to Valdez who was wanted by their department after ramming a patrol vehicle in Anchorage and fleeing on foot. Outstanding Anchorage charges of Felony Assault 2 as well as Criminal Mischief 1st degree, Felony Eluding 1st Degree, Failure to Stop at the Direction of an Officer and Probation Violation. Officers conducted a felony stop on the suspect and took him into custody. He was additionally charged by VPD for Misconduct Involving Weapons 3rd when a concealed weapon was found in his vehicle and he is a known felon. Arrested: Taming Ting, DOB 03/21/1985, of Anchorage, was arrested on two felony Anchorage arrest warrants with the following charges: Felony Assault 2nd Degree, Criminal Mischief 1st Degree, Felony Eluding 1st Degree, Failure to Stop at the Direction of an Officer and Probation Violation. He is currently being held on a $50,000 bail and a Court Approved Third Party Custodian on the Valdez charges and No Bail on the Anchorage charges. More charges pending.

Animal at Large: An extremely friendly 6-8 month old black Labrador puppy wearing a collar with no tags was reported at large on West Oumalik Street. Officers were able to reunite the puppy with his relieved owner.

Disturbance – Bar: A complainant reported a small, dark haired intoxicated woman causing a ruckus at the Boardroom. Officers responded and found no such person or disturbance and the bartender reported there hadn’t been any issues all night.

Welfare Check: While on patrol, Officers found a man who appeared to be either asleep or passed out on a lawn off of Meals Avenue. Officers woke the man and gave him a ride back to his home.

Fireworks: Dispatch received multiple complaints regarding fireworks being set off on Fairweather Street in Corbin Creek Subdivision. Responding Officers issued a verbal warning to one individual and provided transportation to another who had unwittingly become involved in the incident after accepting a ride.

Found Property: Patrolling Officers in the area of the Pack Trail Trailhead found a large cardboard box containing various items to include: men’s clothing, sports equipment, personal hygiene items and gaming cards. Please call the VPD with identifiers to claim.

Neighbor Issues: Dispatch received numerous complaints stemming from a disruptive neighbor.

6-13-16 Valdez Fire Department responded to a fire alarm at the Senior Center. The culprit of the fire alarm activation was burnt food.

6-13-16 Valdez EMS responded to an individual needing medical assistance. The patient was treated at the scene and transported to Providence Valdez Medical Center.

6-13-16 Valdez Fire Department responded to a fire alarm at the Valdez Man Camp. The fire alarm was activated by an electrical fire.

6-14-16 Valdez Fire Department responded to a fire alarm at the Orca building. The area was investigated and no fire was found.

6-15-16 Valdez EMS responded to an individual having seizures. The patient was treated at the scene and transported to Providence Valdez Medical Center.

6-15-16 Valdez EMS responded to an individual needing medical assistance. The patient was treated at the scene and transported to Providence Valdez Medical Center.

6-15-16 Valdez EMS responded to an individual needing medical assistance during a softball game. The patient was treated at the scene and transported to Providence Valdez Medical Center.

6-16-16 Valdez Fire Department responded to a fire alarm. The area was investigated and no fire was found.

6-16-16 Valdez EMS responded to an individual in a wheelchair who was hit by a vehicle. The individual was treated at the scene.

6-18-16 Valdez EMS responded to an individual who needed medical attention at the Valdez City jail. The patient was treated at the scene and transported to Providence Valdez Medical Center.
