Bear Incident: A bear was stuck inside the Gold Fields Baseball Complex. Parks & Rec requested an officer to stand by for assistance while they attempted to set it free.
Animal at Large: A yellow Labrador dog was caught and held by a citizen who didn’t know who the owners were. The caller called back and said that they were able to get the dog back to the owner.
Animal at Large: A yellow pit bull was reported running loose and almost got hit by a car. ACO responded and was able to recover the dog. It was found that the dog broke its collar.
Traffic Complaint: A black side dump was reported weaving back and forth on the roadway from Dayville Rd. to 10-mile. An officer contacted the driver and found that they were not impaired.
Animal at Large: A black lab was reported at large inside the post office. ACO retrieved the dog and was able to return it back to its owner.
Locate for Citizen: A young child was found to be alone around the South side of Barney Meyring Park. An officer walked along the park strip and figured out where she lived and was safely returned back to her mother and grandmother.
Runaway Juvenile: A juvenile was reported as a runaway. This is currently under investigation.
Family-Neighbor Fights: A passerby reported a disturbance between a male and a female who was pushing a stroller along the bike path. Officer made contact and determined it was a verbal altercation only.
Possible Drunk Driver: An officer made contact with a vehicle that was driving in excessive speed and constantly swerving all over the fog line. It was found that the driver was not impaired.
Welfare Check: A front desk clerk at a local hotel reported an intoxicated male was passed out on the bathroom floor and was unable to wake him up. Officers were able to get the man up and provided transportation to his family where he was turned over to a sober party.
Disturbance – Other: A man was reported riding his bike down the middle of the construction area and was ignoring the flagger’s instructions to stay out of the way. Officers were able to contact the individual and had the issue resolved.
Animal at Large: A yellow Labrador was reported at large. ACO was able to locate the dog and took it to the shelter.
Bear Incident: A small black bear was reported running across the highway heading towards the hospital.
Suspicious Person: A caller reported a suspicious person in the restroom at dock point. An officer contacted the person who was homeless and was sleeping there.
Bear Incident: A black bear was reported stuck in the ball fields on Hanagita St. The bear was able to find its way out before officer arrival.
Disturbance Noise: Individuals were reported playing loud music at the tennis courts. An officer responded and music had been turned down prior to arrival.
Animal at Large: A white pit bull was reported running at large on Gulkana St. The owner was able to retrieve the dog.
Found Property: A bike was left next to a connex at a local business. Please contact the Valdez Police Department with descriptors to claim.
Bear Incident: A little brown bear was reported trying to get into a dumpster.
Abandoned Vehicle: A caller reported seeing a man tinkering with a broken down vehicle at 11-mile. Later the vehicle was found pushed into the brush with “FREE” written on the window. Officers got the license plate number to track down the owner.
Traffic Complaint: A Blue Dodge Challenger was reported passing other cars on the double yellow lines doing at least 100 mph. An officer was able to make contact with the driver who admitted to speeding. They were given a verbal warning for speed.
Barking Dog: A dog was reported barking all night. An officer responded and found the dog to be tangled up in its leash. The officer got the dog untangled and the dog stopped barking.
Patrol on Foot: A local business that was having issues with patrons requested extra random patrol.
Lost Property: Prescription meds were reported lost in the Valdez area. If found, please turn in to the Valdez Police Department.
Animal Neglect: A dog was reported locked in a truck with the windows rolled up. Officers found that the windows were down about an inch and a half. Dispatch was able to get the RO information.
Fish & Game: ACO picked up a wounded rabbit and transported it to the vet.
Found Property: An iPod was found in the Valdez area. The owner was found and picked up the property.
Traffic Complaint: A truck was reported driving around the wood barriers at the end of Klutina St. Officers were unable to locate a vehicle that matched the description given.
Bear Incident: A concerned caller reported a black bear about the size of a St. Bernard has been in the Mineral Creek Dr area for about 2-3 weeks and is no longer afraid of humans. Valdez Police Department encourages citizens to be aware of the number of bears being seen all around the Valdez area, keep all trash locked up, and keep your distance for the safety of citizens and the bears.
Disturbance Noise: A caller reported that while riding their bike they heard some horrible intermittent wailing noises coming from the bushes and suspected a bear cub, dog, or a deranged person. An officer went down the bike path and found the noise to be ravens.
Fish & Game: An injured pigeon was reported walking down the street. ACO patrolled the area and was unable to find the pigeon.
Barking Dog: A barking dog was reported in Robe River. ACO was unable to contact the RO. A door hanger was left on the door.
Agency Assist: Officers assisted to a report of a shed on fire.
Bear Incident: A bear was reported running around Homestead Rd. area.
Theft of Property: A firearm was reported stolen. This case is currently under investigation.
Patrol Alert: A caller reported that 10 individuals at dock point were consuming alcohol. Officers made contact with the individuals and gave them an advisement that alcohol was not allowed in the area and they need to put the alcohol away or move on to a new location. The individuals complied.
Disturbance Other: A local hotel reported a caller from the outside was calling their main switchboard and yelling profanities and threats. They were advised to contact the telephone company to get further information.
Lost Property: A money order for $100 was reported lost in the Valdez Area. If found please turn in to the Valdez Police Department.
Parking: A boat was reported parked on the side of a residential street for a long period of time. The RO was contacted and the boat was moved.
Theft Bicycle: A woman’s turquoise mountain bike was reported stolen in the Valdez area. If found please return to the Valdez Police Department.
Lost Property: A bi-fold wallet was reported lost in the Valdez area. If found, please return to the Valdez Police Department.
Traffic Complaint: A caller reported being passed in the construction zone. Officer’s made contact with the driver who admitted to passing another vehicle and was given a verbal warning for erratic driving.
Animal Surrender: A pit bull was surrendered to the Valdez Animal Shelter.
Welfare Check: A kayaker was reported flipped over in the ocean by the Kelsey Dock. A skiff was nearby and retrieving the individual. An officer made contact with the individual at the Small Boat Harbor who stated that they were fine and didn’t require any assistance.
Patrol Alert: Several individuals were reported consuming alcoholic beverages at Dock Point. An officer contacted the individuals who advised them alcoholic beverages were not permitted in the area and it needs to get put away or move on. The individuals left the area.
MVA-Damage: A minor motor vehicle accident was reported on North Harbor Dr. The two parties exchanged information and the officer gave them PAR forms.
Bear Incident: The CSO stood by while tourists observed a brown bear on Dayville Rd.
Animal at Large: A pit bull was reported running loose by the middle school. The owners were contacted and the dog returned safely.
Bear Incident: A little brown bear cub was inside the dumpster at the Gold Fields. The CSO was able to scare the bear away and have the area secured.
Bear Incident: A sow and three cubs were reported running around Homestead Rd. The bears had left the area before officer arrival.
ETOH Pedestrian: An officer made contact with an intoxicated individual sitting in the grass in the park strip. They stated they were taking a break and hanging out for a few minutes. They later left the area.
Suspicious Person: A man requested to speak with an officer regarding a suspicious man on one of the hiking trails.
Lost Property: A seal skin wallet with a beaded flower was reported lost in the downtown Valdez area. If found please return to the Valdez Police Department.
Citizen Assist: Officers assisted a citizen who was having vehicle problems.
Agency Assist: Officers responded to a report of a piece of equipment on fire at 18 mile.
Missing Person: Valdez Police Department received a report of a missing person. After investigation, VPD was able to track down the individual in Kenai.
Bear Incident: A bear was reported at the Gold Fields. The bear had left the area prior to the CSO’s arrival.
Bar Disturbance: A local bar requested officer assistance on removing a patron from the establishment. Prior to officer arrival, the individual had left the property. The officers were later able to make contact with the individual who was on their way home.
Bear Incident: A brown bear was reported down Glacier Haul Dump Road.
Assist EMS Crew: Officers responded to a medical call.
Extra Patrol: Extra patrol was requested at Copper Ave. & McKinley St. in Old Town Valdez due to flooding issues.
Lost Property: An iPad mini was reported lost in the Valdez area. If found, please return to the Valdez Police Department.
Found Property: A lock box containing a key was found in the roadway in the Valdez Area. Please contact the Valdez Police Department with descriptors to claim.
Fireworks: Dispatch received multiple complaints regarding fireworks being set off at Valdez Mobile Home Park. A verbal warning was issued to an individual.
6-20-16 Valdez Fire Department responded to a fire alarm. The fire alarm was accidently set by the contractors.

6-22-16 Valdez Fire Department responded to a kitchen fire. The fire was extinguished by the sprinkler system.
6-23-16 Valdez Fire Department responded to a structure fire on Richardson Highway.
6-23-16 Valdez Fire Department responded to a fire alarm at the Valdez Man Camp. There seemed to be a malfunction with the backup generator.
6-23-16 Valdez EMS responded to a person needing medical attention. The patient was treated at the scene.
6-25-16 Valdez Fire Department responded to a snow machine fire at Mile 19 on the Richardson Highway.
6-26-16 Valdez EMS responded to a young child needing medical attention. The patient was treated at the scene and transported to Providence Valdez Medical Center.
6-26-16 Valdez EMS responded to a medivac assist request.
6-26-16 Valdez Fire responded to a fire alarm at the State Courthouse. There was no fire found, the system was reset.
