Public Appearance: Valdez Police Department conducted a mock DUI at the Gilson Middle School. 3 students were “arrested” and taken to the Valdez Jail, all other students were also transported to the Valdez Jail where they were walked through the entire DUI process.

MVA Hit & Run: A blue metallic Jeep SUV type vehicle was reported hitting a local business causing damage to the outside of the building and causing a large amount of inventory to fall the shelves inside the store. The vehicle then drove off. This case is currently under investigation. If anyone has any information, please contact the Valdez Police Department.

Hazardous Material Spill: Caller reported that a port-a-potty had blown into the bay during heavy winds. DEC was notified of this incident.

Found Property: An iPad was found in the Valdez Area. Please contact the Valdez Police Department with descriptors to claim.

MVA-Damage: A caller reported hitting a pole at a local business. An officer documented the scene and provided the driver with a PAR form.

Barking Dog: A caller reported an ongoing issue of dogs barking. The owner of the dogs was contacted and they took care of the issue.

Barking Dogs: Two small dogs were reported going nuts in a residence where the occupants had apparently moved out and left the dogs behind. The Animal Control Officer was able to capture the dogs and took them to the animal shelter.

Animal at Large: A dog was reported running down the highway between MP 9 & 10. The Animal Control Officer patrolled the area and was unable to find the dog.

Public Appearance: Valdez Police Department demonstrated how to use flares for the Valdez High School Marine Technology Class. The class was later suspended due to fire danger.

DUI: During routine traffic patrol, an officer going outbound on the Richardson Hwy observed a truck driving inbound at a speed of approx 90 mph. While attempting to conduct a traffic stop, the truck tried turning off the highway, hit the Stop sign and went in the ditch at the intersection of Cummings Way and Richardson Hwy. After conducting field sobriety tests, officers arrested Kimberley O’Dell Hendrickson, DOB 08/20/1970, of Valdez, for Driving Under the Influence and Reckless Driving. Ms. Hendrickson provided a Breath Alcohol of .195 and is currently being held at the Valdez Jail in which bail is set at $2500 for appearance and $3000 for performance.

Public Assist: An officer assisted a woman and her children with their groceries with a ride to their residence.

Disturbance-Other: Officers were dispatched to a residence for a report of a fight in progress. Officers arrived on scene and spoke to multiple people who stated they had been trying to get an intoxicated individual to leave the residence. Officers gave the individual a ride to his residence.

Domestic, Non-Arrest: Complainant reported hearing people yelling inside a residence. An officer contacted the two people who were yelling at each other but it was verbal only.

Safety Hazard: Two women were reported walking on Ruth Pond. Upon officer arrival the two women were no longer on the ice.

Theft of Property: Complainant reported that 5-6 “Trump” signs had been stolen from around their neighborhood. One of the residences in the neighborhood was offering an award for the return of the signs.

Barking Dog: Complainant reported a neighbor’s dog keeps barking. Owner of the dog was contacted and agreed to have the dog put inside.

Assist EMS Crew: Officers responded to a residence to assist EMS after receiving report of a possible drug overdose.

Harassment: Complainant reported being harassed/threatened through text messages and Facebook. Officers contacted the subject and told not to contact the complainant anymore.

Strange Activity: Complainant called to report that a monitoring system was showing a loss of 1300 gallons of fuel at a local building, requested officers check the area to make sure fuel wasn’t spilling out or hadn’t been stolen. Officers responded to the area and saw no signs of anyone having been around the fuel tank area.

Traffic Complaint: Complainant reported a fork lift on the highway carrying a trailer, heading outbound. Officers contacted the driver and determined he had a permit to be on the highway.

DUI: While conducting a routine traffic stop a VPD officer noticed signs of impairment by the driver. The driver attempted to perform field sobriety tests but failed. Jamie Fletcher-Gilbert, DOB 09/06/1983, of Valdez arrested for Felony DUI. BrAC .235, bail was set at $1000 cash.

Disturbance-Noise: Complainant reported loud music coming from a residence on a nearby street. Officers made contact and they agreed to turn the music down.

Welfare Check: Dispatch received a request for a welfare check on an individual after receiving a weird phone call from the person’s phone. The complainant was unsure where the individual was living and didn’t have a current phone number for them. After contacting of the persons friends, they called the Police Department saying they were fine and would contact their family members.

Domestic, Non-Arrest: Complainant reported hearing people screaming at each other while driving by a residence. Officers made contact with the couple who had been arguing but was verbal only.

DUI: Dispatch received a report of a vehicle that had left the roadway and hit a tree. Upon officer arrival, William Baird II, DOB 9/13/1982, of Valdez was arrested for DUI. Bail was set at $1000 cash.

DUI: Tim Wesenberg, DOB 05/04/1966, of Valdez was arrested for DUI and Refusal.

DUI: Jason Basden, DOB 11/18/1979, of Valdez was arrested for DUI. BrAC .170

Welfare Check: Dispatch received a report of an incoherent male in the parking lot of a local business making weird noises. Officers responded and contacted the individual who was highly intoxicated. Officers had the local cab company give him a ride home.

Sounds of Shots Fired: Caller reported hearing several gunshots in the Alpine Woods area. While responding, an officer conducted a traffic stop and concluded that the individual in the vehicle were the ones shooting out at the 12 mile gravel pits.

10-24-16 Valdez Fire responded to an active fire alarm at the Valdez Senior Center. The call was a false alarm and the fire alarm was reset.

10-25-16 Valdez EMS provided EMS/Fire Education to the Valdez City Schools Hermon Hutchens Elementary school. Fire Prevention Week.

10-25-16 Valdez EMS/Fire reviewed Petro Star Refinery hazard plan.

10-26-16 Valdez EMS provided EMS/Fire Education to the Valdez City Schools Hermon Hutchens Elementary school. Fire Prevention Week.

10-26-16 Valdez EMS responded to an individual needing medical attention after falling. The patient was treated at the scene and transported to Providence Valdez Medical Center.

10-27-16 Valdez EMS provided EMS/Fire Education to the Valdez City Schools Hermon Hutchens Elementary school. Fire Prevention Week.

10-28-16 Valdez EMS was needed for an individual needing medical evaluation. The patient was evaluated at the Fire Department with no further action needed.

10-28-16 Valdez EMS responded to an individual needing medical attention. The patient was treated at the scene and transported to Providence Valdez Medical Center.

10-28-16 Valdez EMS provided EMS/Fire Education to the Valdez Coop Preschool. Fire Prevention Week.

10-29-16 Valdez EMS responded to a motor vehicle accident on the Richardson Highway. The patient was treated at the scene.

10-31-16 Valdez EMS responded to the Valdez jail to evaluate an individual who was in a motor vehicle accident. The patient was treated at the scene and transported to Providence Valdez Medical Center.
