Impeding Snow Removal: Vehicles were cited for impeding snow removal. VPD advises residents to keep the roadway clear for snow removal.

Runaway Juvenile: A runaway juvenile from Anchorage was reported as possibly heading to Valdez. An officer contacted a resource who had stated the juvenile had already come to Valdez and had already left back to Anchorage but their whereabouts were unknown.

Welfare Check: A welfare check was requested on an individual who was injured and was taking themselves to the hospital. An officer contacted the individual who had gone home and was treating their wounds.

Domestic Criminal Mischief: It was reported that an individual broke the windows in their home and cut the fuel lines on their vehicle and walked away. This case is currently under investigation.

Fraud: A caller requested to speak with an officer regarding a scam letter.

Remand: Jourdan Glenn Taylour Avila, DOB 06/29/1992, of Valdez was arrested for Probation Violation.

Suspicious Person: An individual reported that someone was knocking on their door. Officers made contact with a subject who claimed they were on a date with the complainant earlier in the evening and left some items at their house and was trying to get them back.

Fish & Game: A caller reported that they hit an eagle with their vehicle and they weren’t sure whether the eagle flew off or not. The Animal Control Officer patrolled the area and was unable to locate the eagle.

Welfare Check: A welfare check was requested on an individual who was walking out the road by Salmon Turn without a jacket on and looked cold. An officer made contact with the individual who stated that they were fine and didn’t need a ride.

MVA-D: A caller reported backing into a pole at a local business.

Suspicious Person: An off-duty officer was contacted by some young teenagers at a local business who reported they were being followed by a suspicious person. When they pointed out the individual, the individual ran off. Officers patrolled the Valdez area and were unable to find the individual.

DUI: David Anthony Smith, DOB 02/27/1991, of Valdez was arrested for Driving Under the Influence. He registered a breath-alcohol content of .118

Fire Alarm: VPD assisted the Fire Department for a Fire Alarm at a local business.

Found Property: A Samsung Galaxy tablet was turned in to the Valdez Police Department. Dispatch was able to locate the owner and return the tablet.

DUI: Marcus A. Bugella, DOB 03/20/1967, of Florida was arrested for Driving Under the Influence. He registered a breath-alcohol content of .132

Impeding Snow Removal: Multiple vehicle owners were contacted in the early morning to remove their vehicles from the roadway for snow removal.

Traffic Complaint: An officer contacted an individual on a snowmachine driving on the park strip.

Disturbance: A local business requested an officer to conduct a walk through because a patron was being agitated. An officer made contact with the individual and concluded that they were fine.

Driving While License Revoked: Donald Gordon Sager, DOB 02/26/1982, of Sitka was summonsed for Driving Without a Valid License.

Traffic Compliant: A caller was concerned for the safety of children who were reported pulling sleds with their snowmachine in Robe River Subdivision. An officer contacted the children and advised them to be aware of other vehicles driving in the area.

Citizen Assist: Officers assisted with a residence that had a broken main water line.

Welfare Check: A welfare check was requested on an individual in dark clothing walking towards town along the Richardson Hwy who was not very visible to traffic. An officer provided transportation to town and got them home safe.

11-21-16 Valdez EMS responded to a patient who had fallen with minor injuries. The patient was treated at the scene and transported to Providence Valdez Medical Center.

11-23-16 Valdez EMS responded to an individual not feeling well and needed medical assistance. The patient was treated at the scene and transported to Providence Valdez Medical Center.

11-24-16 Valdez Fire Department responded to fire alarm activation at the Prince William Sound College. There was no fire located, the fire alarm was reactivated.

11-25-16 Valdez EMS responded to an individual needing medical attention. The patient was treated at the scene and transported to Providence Valdez Medical Center.

11-25-16 Valdez Fire Department responded to a fire alarm at the Valdez Man Camp. There was no fire located, the fire alarm was reactivated.

11-26-16 Valdez EMS assisted with a medivac request.

11-27-16 Valdez EMS responded to an individual needing medical attention. The patient was treated at the scene and transported to Providence Valdez Medical Center.

11-28-16 Valdez EMS responded to an individual needing medical attention. The patient was treated at the scene and transported to Providence Valdez Medical Center.
