Transport: Officers assisted in transporting an individual back to their residence.

Agency Assist: An officer was requested to contact a homeowner and advise them on the rules pertaining to snow removal.

Abandoned Vehicle: An abandoned vehicle was reported left in the Valdez area. Officers contacted the registered owner.

Runaway Juvenile: VPD received a call that a juvenile had threatened that he was going to run away and left his house. The juvenile later returned to the residence.

Impeding Snow Removal: Several vehicles were issued citations for impeding snow removal. VPD advises residents to keep vehicles clear of roadway for snow removal equipment.

Disturbance: Officers responded to a report of a man and a woman arguing. The couple was separated for the day.

Burglar Alarm: A burglar alarm was activated at a local business. It was determined that workers had accidently set off the alarm.

Welfare Check: Officers were requested to conduct a welfare check on an individual who appeared to be depressed. Officers contacted the individual and discovered that they were fine.

Panic Alarm: A panic alarm was activated at a local business. Officers responded and found it to be a false alarm.

Vehicle in Ditch: A vehicle was reported in the ditch by the Nazarene Church.

Civil Dispute: Two individuals were arguing about the sale of firewood under contract. They were advised that their issue was civil.

Motor Vehicle Damage: An accident was reported to have occurred causing damage to the complainants vehicle. The driver at fault was issued a citation for speed.

Impeding Snow Removal: A truck was issued a citation for impeding snow removal.

Vehicle in Ditch: A caller reported running their vehicle off the side of the road and over a street sign. Damage to the vehicle was minimal and the sign was replaced by city crews.

Civil Dispute: A business owner reported having issues with the neighbor business regarding parking of equipment. The owner was advised that he could have it towed if it was on private property.

Traffic Hazard: A caller reported a young boy running into traffic and touching the school busses as they drove by. An officer contacted his parents about this issue.

Possible Drunk Driver: A caller reported that a woman who smelled of alcohol got into her car and drove away from a local business. An officer made contact with the woman and had probable cause to conduct Standard Field Sobriety Tests in which she passed. Portable breath test was .034

Welfare Check: A caller reported a young boy was walking by himself after school. They were concerned because it was unusual and that a family member always picks him up. An officer contacted the young boy and provided transportation home and spoke with his mother.

MVA – Damage: A caller reported running their vehicle into a pole at a local business.

Curfew Violation: A juvenile was cited for curfew violation after an officer contacted him with another individual after hours. The passenger of the vehicle was given a ride home.

Unattended Death: Officers responded to an individual’s residence after receiving notice from a caller that they had found their friend unresponsive.

Animal at Large: A caller reported a black dog was running in and out of traffic. The Community Safety Officer found the dog and made contact with the owner and reminded them of the leash law.

Alarm – Other: A caller reported hearing an alarm going off inside a residence. Officers were able to contact the owner of the home and found that the oven was on self-clean and the pellet stove was going. The combination of the two triggered the fire alarm and that everything was fine.

Disturbance: A caller reported a man was outside a local business shouting profanities. The man had left the area prior to officer arrival.

Fireworks: A caller reported fireworks going off at 10-mile. Officers contacted the individuals who were very compliant and said they would not let off anymore fireworks.

Municipal Violation: Four large spruce trees were reported harvested on private property. After investigation, Richard A Mitchell, DOB 05/31/1969, of Valdez was summonsed to appear in court for a charge of Theft in the 3rd Degree. The wood was seized and donated to charity.

Lost Property: A Samsung Galaxy 7 in a black otter case was lost in the Valdez area. If found, please turn in to the Valdez Police Department.

Traffic Complaint: A caller reported that a jeep blew through the stop sign and almost hit him. The officers were able to locate the suspect driver who said that he was unable to stop due to the slick roads.

Theft of Property: Property was reported stolen from a residence at Valdez Mobile Home Park. This is currently under investigation.

Assist EMS Crew: Officers assisted EMS with a woman having a seizure.

Welfare Check: A caller requested a welfare check on an individual who had borrowed their vehicle and hadn’t heard from them for awhile. It was discovered the individual had left town and the vehicle was at the airport.

Juvenile Issues: A parent reported having issues with their teenage son. Officers contacted both parties and agreed on a solution to temporarily separate the two until they had time to cool off.

Welfare Check: A welfare check was requested on a woman whom the caller hadn’t heard from all day and this unusual behavior. It was confirmed that the woman was out of town and that she was fine.

Juvenile Issues: Officers responded to a mother and son having a verbal argument. Parties were separated for a few hours so they had time to cool down.

Assist EMS Crew: Officers assisted EMS with a young woman having a seizure.

Assist EMS Crew: Officers assisted EMS on transporting an elderly woman to the hospital.

Alarm – Burglar: A burglar alarm at Wells Fargo was set off. Officers responded to the area and found snow removal equipment in the vicinity. Everything else was fine.

Welfare Check: A welfare check was requested for a male individual who was threatening self harm. The individual was transported to the hospital voluntarily. The individual was later transported back to his residence.

Citizen Contact: An Officer contacted an individual regarding firearms.

Assist Medical: Officers assisted the Valdez Fire Department with a medical call.

Civil Dispute: A caller reported that his neighbor had parked a motor home on his property and would not move it. An Officer contacted the neighbor and advised them if it was not removed it would be towed. No further action required as this is a civil matter.

Fish & Game: A report of someone feeding Eagles was received. This call has been turned over to the Animal Control Officer.

Agency Assist: Palmer Adult Probation Parole requested Valdez Police Department assistance.

Ride Along: An Officer provided a ride along for an individual.

Welfare Check: A welfare check was requested on an individual. An Officer investigated and found the individual was out of town.

Unattended Death: Valdez Fire Department requested the Valdez Police Department on scene for an individual that had passed.

Permit Alcohol: A Caterers permit was requested for New Year’s party at the Civic Center. Approved.

Animal Bite: A report of a dog bite was received. The Animal Control Officer took a report and quarantined the animal for observation.

Public Assist: While on patrol an Officer stopped with a vehicle on the side of the road. The vehicle was having problems but all was fine and no assistance was needed.

Bench Warrant: Ewan, Reina Denay, DOB 12/26/95, of Copper Center was arrested for a Failure to Appear Bench Warrant. Original charges of Habitual Minor Consuming Alcohol.

Agency Assist: Valdez Police assisted the Valdez Fire Department at a residence that had a possible stack fire. Everyone was evacuated safely.

Vehicle in Ditch: While on patrol an Officer saw a vehicle in the ditch. The Officer assisted the motorist in getting out of the ditch.

Public Assist: An Officer assisted someone with snow removal.

Violate Conditions of Release: Ewan, Reina Denay, DOB 12/26/95, of Copper Center was charged with Violating Conditions of Release after providing a Breath Alcohol result of .05.

Animal at Large: A large red dog was reported running up and down Hanagita. The Community Service Officer responded to the area but the dog was no longer in the area.

Disturbance Other: A caller reported a tall man flipping her off as she was leaving work. An Officer responded to the area and the man was giving a disorderly conduct warning.

Traffic Hazard: A report of a vehicle abandoned in the roadway blocking traffic was received. An Officer responded to the area of the vehicle and found a dog which was turned over to the Community Service Officer. The Community Service Officer returned the dog to the owner.

Civil Dispute: A caller reported his neighbors pushing snow onto his property. An Officer investigated the incident and spoke to the neighbor who agreed to push it away from the property.

Fraud: A caller reported being threatened by text message and requested to speak to an Officer. An Officer went to the residence to speak with complainant and determined it to be fraud related to Craig’s Listing.

Welfare Check: A welfare check was requested on an individual who did not show up for work. An Officer responded and everything was fine.

Assist Medical: Valdez Police Department assisted the Valdez Fire Department on a medical call.

Agency Assist: A third party requested assistance for a subject located in Alabama that had been drinking and taken sleeping pills. The Grant Police Department was contacted and aware of the situation and on scene.

Civil Dispute: Some neighbors were having a dispute over snow removal. An Officer responded to the area and spoke with the individuals.

Traffic Hazard: A caller reported a vehicle broke down by the glacier stream bridge, which was in a bad spot. An Officer responded to the area to assist until her help arrived.

Criminal Mischief: A caller reported a tire was slashed sometime during the night. An Officer responded to the residence to investigate.

Civil Dispute: A caller reported his neighbor was pushing snow onto his property and wanted to talk to an officer about it. During the conversation with dispatcher the neighbor did remove the snow and no further assistance was needed.

Traffic Hazard: A caller reported a vehicle swerving all over the road. An Officer responded to the area but there were no vehicles matching the description in the area.

Citizen Contact: While on patrol an Officer stopped to assist a motorist that was having car troubles on the duck flats.

Domestic Assault: A caller reported being pushed down the stairs and requested officer assistance. Officers responded to the residence and arrested Brian Longoria, DOB 08/20/1973, of Valdez was charged with Assault 4th Degree.

Citizen Contact: While on patrol an officer saw a women sitting in the snow. The Officer stopped to investigate and discovered she was playing with a dog and everything was fine.

Information Report: A caller reported passing a Big State truck that had a funny noise coming from it. Petro Star was contacted so the driver could check out his tires.

Animal at Large: A caller reported 2 small dogs at large and attached to each other. Complainant was able to follow one dog to the residence and notified the owner that the other dog was still running free.

Possible Drunk Driver: A caller reported a possible drunk driver. Officers responded to the area found the vehicle, no alcohol involved. The driver was inexperienced.

Stop Field Investigation: While on patrol an Officer stopped a vehicle that was weaving down the road. No alcohol involved, truck was having issues.

Citizen Assist: While on patrol an Officer stopped to give a woman a ride into town.

Fireworks: A caller complained about fireworks being shot off in Valdez Mobile Home Park. An Officer responded to the area but did not find anyone shooting fireworks.

Agency Assist: A man reported that he hit a moose at 57.5 on the Richardson Highway. Matcom was notified and they said they would dispatch someone to get the moose off the road.

Disturbance Noise: A caller reported music blaring from the neighbor’s apartment. An Officer responded to the area but no one was home. Contacted the complainant to inform them of the situation.

Animal at Large: While on patrol an Officer saw a chocolate lab running free. He was able to pick up the dog and took it to the animal shelter. The owner called later and retrieved the dog.

Welfare Check: A caller reported a child crying for the past 2 hours and requested a welfare check. An Officer responded to the area, spoke to the grandmother of the child, the child did not want to go to bed. No further assistance needed.

12-19-16 Valdez EMS responded to an individual having back pains. The individual was treated at the scene and transported to Providence Valdez Medical Center.

12-21-16 Valdez EMS responded to an individual having difficulties breathing. The patient was treated at the scene.

12-22-16 Valdez Fire Department responded to safety concerns with an apartment access and egress since the snow was possible blocking the entrance.

12-22-16 Valdez EMS responded to a report on an individual who passed away. Valdez EMS responded with the Valdez Police Department.

12-22-16 Valdez EMS assisted with the Valdez Police Department on transporting the deceased individual.

12-22-16 Valdez EMS assisted with a medivac request.

12-23-16 Valdez EMS responded to an individual needing medical attention. The patient was treated at the scene and transported to Providence Valdez Medical Center.

12-24-16 Valdez EMS responded to an individual having a seizure and needing medical attention. The patient was treated at the scene and transported to Providence Valdez Medical Center.

12-25-16 Valdez EMS responded to an individual having a seizure and needing medical attention. The patient was treated at the scene and transported to Providence Valdez Medical Center.

12-25-16 Valdez EMS responded to a female needing medical attention. The patient was treated at the scene and transported to Providence Valdez Medical Center.

12-26-16 Valdez EMS responded to an individual needing medical assistance. The individual was given medical assistance at the scene.

12-27-16 Valdez EMS responded to an elderly man not breathing. The patient was treated at the scene and transported to Providence Valdez Medical Center.

12-28-16 Valdez EMS responded to a report on an individual who passed away. Valdez EMS responded with the Valdez Police Department.

12-28-16 Valdez EMS assisted with the Valdez Police Department on transporting the deceased individual.

12-28-16 Valdez Fire Department responded to a possible chimney fire. Upon arrival there was smoke showing, but after evaluation of the structure no open flames were found.

12-29-16 Valdez Fire Department responded to an active fire alarm at the Valdez Senior Center. After evaluation of the area, no fire was located and the fire alarm panel was reset.

12-29-16 Valdez Fire Department responded to a citizen concern on the alarm system at Cottonwood Manor. After review of the alarm panel, there were some issues that needed to be addressed.

12-29-16 Valdez EMS responded to an infant having difficulties breathing. The patient was treated at the scene and transported to Providence Valdez Medical Center.

12-31-16 Valdez Fire Department and EMS were on standby during the City of Valdez fireworks display.

12-31-16 Valdez Fire Department responded to a possible fire at Robe River Subdivision. After arriving on scene the fire was an open burn meeting all of the requirements.
