01/16

Family Issues: An individual called to request officer assistance with her children who were trying to leave the residence.

Animal at Large: A puppy was found running at large.

Theft-Vehicle: Complainant reported their vehicle had been stolen. Officers responded and found it was a family dispute and retrieved the keys for the complainant.

Impeding Snow Removal: Several vehicles were found to be parked on the streets impeding snow removal.

Citizen Assist: An officer assisted an individual in getting their vehicle unstuck from a snow berm.

Citizen Assist: An officer assisted with traffic control on the highway after a vehicle had run out gas. The officer stayed until the owner returned with gas.

Driving While License Cancelled: Caller reported an individual was driving and has a cancelled license. Officers were unable to locate the subject.

MVA-Injury: Caller reported that while en route to the hospital with an emergency patient in their vehicle, they went through the stop sign at the intersection of Airport Rd and Salcha Way and collided with another vehicle, injuries were reported. Officers and EMS responded.

Civil Problem/Dispute: Complainant called to report that a neighboring residence was pushing their snow onto the complainant’s property. They were advised it’s a civil matter but would be documented.

Criminal Mischief: Complainant called to report that an individual was intoxicated and angry and threatening to slash the tires of the complainant’s vehicle. Officers arrived on scene and found one tire on the vehicle to have damage.

Serve Time: Mark Johns, DOB 09/14/1978, of Glennallen reported to the Valdez Jail to serve time on a Glennallen case.

Impeding Snow Removal: Multiple warnings were issued for impeding snow removal.

Fish & Game: Caller reported a cow moose and calf were hit by a vehicle at the bottom of the pass. Both moose were deceased. An officer assisted in retrieving the moose for salvage.

MVA-Damage: It was reported that a fuel tanker had rolled over at MP 17.5 of the Richardson Hwy. No injuries reported. Small amounts of fuel spilled out of the overturned tanker.

Assault: VPD received a report from a third party that an individual may have been assaulted by her caretaker. Arrested: Mark Czarnecki, DOB 02/01/1957, of Valdez, was arrested for DV Assault 4, Assault on Police Officer and Resisting Arrest.

VID: Complainant reported that another vehicle had caused them to go in the ditch.

01/18

Animal at Large: Caller reported a dog at large. An officer responded and retrieved the dog.

Traffic Hazard: Complainant called to report that the snow bank at the intersection of Airport Road and Loop Road is too high causing a traffic hazard. Dispatch contacted DOT and relayed the complaint.

Summons: Christopher White, DOB 09/18/1969, of Valdez was issued a Summons on the charge of Criminal Mischief 5th Degree for the prior incident involving the slashed tires.

VID: Caller reported a vehicle in the ditch on Richardson Hwy. Officers responded and called for the tow company to help pull the vehicle out. Officers conducted traffic control until the roadway was clear.

Welfare Check: A welfare check was requested on an individual who had been making self harm comments. Officers contacted the individual who assured them they were fine and weren’t going to harm themselves.

Assist EMS: A caller reported that he was cleaning his firearm and there was a misfire and he had shot himself in the finger. Officers seized the gun for safekeeping.

Lost Property: Caller reported losing a Trac Phone with a purple wallet case somewhere in the vicinity of the Teen Center. Please turn into the Police Dept if found.

Welfare Check: Welfare check requested on a juvenile after they had posted alarming messages on social media. Officers located the individual and spoke with them and their parents.

01/19

Welfare Check: Caller requested a welfare check on their father who they hadn’t heard from in a few days. Officers located the individual and found him to be okay and he said he would contact his family.

Lost Property: Caller reported losing their black wallet containing ID and misc cards. Please turn in to the Police Dept if found.

Welfare Check: Welfare check requested in an individual hitchhiking on the highway. Officer arrived just as a passerby stopped and picked them up.

Assist EMS: Officers arrived at a residence to assist EMS who were dispatched to a possible overdose.

Remand: Charles Wilkinson, DOB 10/08/1983, of Valdez, was remanded for violating probation.

Agency Assist: Officers arrived on scene to assist VFD with a house fire.

Traffic Complaint: Complainant reported that while crossing the street a vehicle sped up and bumped into them, no injuries reported. Complainant was unable to give a vehicle description.

Traffic Complaint: A vehicle attempted to cut through the park strip and got stuck. Another vehicle also became stuck after trying to help the first vehicle get unstuck. Eventually both vehicles were able to get unstuck and leave the area.

Missing Person: Dispatch received a call from an individual stating their spouse was missing after leaving a local bar. Officers responded and found the missing person walking and almost to her residence.

Animal at Large: Caller reported a St. Bernard was at the back door of their residence. Dog was gone on arrival.

Animal DOA: Dispatched received a call that a dog was struck by a vehicle. The ACO transported the dog and the owner to the Vet.

Lost Property: An iphone 6 Plus with a mint green Life Proof case was reported lost at Safeway. Please turn into the Police Dept if found.

01/21

Welfare Check: Welfare check requested on an individual who was posting alarming comments on social media. Officers located the individual at a friend’s residence who assured them they were fine and going to stay with their friend.

Family Issues: Complainant reported receiving nonstop phone calls from a family member and requested officers tell them to stop calling for the night. Officers located the individual and told them stop calling the complainant.

Arrested: Valentina Wegner, DOB 08/05/1994, of Valdez, on an outstanding Valdez Civil Warrant. Original Charge: Failure to Appear to a Show of Cause Hearing for Failure to Comply with Jury Selection.

Animal Impound: An officer found a black lab mix running at large, dog was transported to the Animal Shelter.

1-16-17 Valdez Fire Department and EMS responded to a motor vehicle accident on Salcha and Airport Road. The people involved with the vehicle accident were treated on scene and transported to Providence Valdez Medical Center.

1-17-17 Valdez EMS responded to a tanker rollover at 17.5 Mile on the Richardson Highway. No injuries were reported.

1-17-17 Valdez Fire Department responded to a fire alarm at the Valdez Senior Center. No visual fire was located after investigation of the facility. The fire panel was reset.

1-18-17 Valdez EMS assisted with a medivac request.

1-18-17 Valdez Ems responded to an injury with a patient needing medical attention. The patient was treated at the scene and transported to Providence Valdez Medical Center.

1-19-17 Valdez EMS responded to a possible overdose. The patient was treated at the scene and transported to Providence Valdez Medical Center.

1-19-17 Valdez Fire responded to an active trailer fire on Gulkana.

1-19-17 Valdez EMS responded to an individual needing medical attention. The individual was treated to the scene and transported to Providence Valdez Medical Center.

1-20-17 Valdez EMS responded to an individual needing medical attention. The individual was treated to the scene and transported to Providence Valdez Medical Center.
