01/23

Indecent Exposure: A report was received that an adult male may have exposed himself to a minor. This case is under investigation.

Lost Property: A wallet was reported to have been lost somewhere in Valdez. If anyone has found a black Harley Davidson wallet with an attached chain, please turn it in to the Police Department.

Lost Property: A cell phone was reported lost in the Valdez area. If you have found any phones, please turn them into the Police Department.

Violate Conditions of Release: Tisha D. Watts, DOB: 06/30/82, of Valdez was issued a summons to appear in court for Violating Conditions of Release in two ongoing cases. Ms. Watts was remanded to custody following her arraignment on additional bail conditions of 24 hour third party custodian and $5000.00 cash bail.

Traffic Complaint: A bench was reported to be in the middle of the highway on the Tideflats. The bench was gone when an officer arrived to move it.

Impeding Snow Removal: A vehicle owner was given a warning for impeding snow removal.

Citizen Assist: An officer assisted a school bus driver with her taillights.

Lost Property: A pair of skis was reported to have been left at the trail head by the Bridge to Nowhere. If anyone has picked up these skis please turn them into the Police Department so they can be returned to the owner.

Vehicle in the Ditch: A vehicle was reported to be in the ditch by Glacier Haul Rd. Officers responded and found the owner who was determined to be under the influence.

DUI: James Hughes, DOB: 9/29/90, of Valdez was arrested for Driving Under the Influence. He registered a breath-alcohol content of .182

Burglar Alarm: VPD received an alarm at a local business. Officers responded and found that the building was secure.

Impeding Snow Removal: Several vehicles were moved out of the street that was impeding snow removal.

Attempted Theft: An individual reported that their Onstar alarm went off and suspects that someone tried to gain entry into their vehicle. It was determined that no one got into the vehicle.

Fraud: A local resident reported that someone had attempted to fraud her by requiring her to send them gift cards to pay for protection from computer hackers.

Animal Impound: A large black dog was impounded from the Robe River Subdivision area.

Found Property: A pair of glasses was found on Bremner St. Call with further descriptors to claim.

Traffic Hazard/Found Property: An officer stopped to remove debris out of the roadway. A motor was retrieved and is being stored at the Police Department. If this is your motor, please call VPD with further descriptors to claim.

Motor Vehicle Accident: A MVA was reported at the intersection of Tatitlek & Egan. The ‘at fault’ driver was issued a citation for Failure to Yield to an Oncoming Vehicle.

Domestic Assault: VPD received a report that a man had pulled a gun on another and threatened him. Rick L. Russell, DOB: 6/20/64, of Valdez was arrested for DV Assault 3rd degree, DV Assault 4th degree & Misconduct Involving Weapons 5th degree. Mr. Russell was held at the Valdez Jail for arraignment. He was released the following day on bail.

Possible Suicide Attempt: Officers responded to a report that an individual may try to harm themselves. Officers and EMS made contact with the person who was then transported to the hospital.

Possible Suicide: VPD received a call reporting that a man may have just shot himself. After getting a location on the individual it was determined that the caller was in Cordova and the call was passed onto the Cordova Police Department.

Protective Order: VPD received a protective order to be served on an individual in the Valdez Area.

Tobacco (Juvenile): A report was made that a juvenile was caught “vaping” at school. The vape was confiscated.

Drug Disposal: Officers disposed of 40 pounds of medications that were turned into the department for disposal.

***If you have old medications that you do not need anymore, there is a bin located in city hall where you may dispose of them anonymously 24/7****

VID: A caller reported that the FED Ex truck had gone off the road around 41 mile. Assistance was already enroute from Troopers.

Welfare Check: An officer out on routine patrol assisted a 5 year old who was trying to walk home. The officer transported her back to the school to wait for a parent to pick her up.

Animal Bite: An individual was bitten by their dog when they tried to break up a fight between it and another dog.

Snow Removal: A caller reported that their neighbor had their driveway plowed, but had pushed the snow into their driveway.

Domestic Disturbance: A caller requested assistance with his intoxicated girlfriend. Officers responded and they were separated for the remainder of the day.

Trespassing: A local business reported that a trespassed individual was presently located inside the business. It was determined that the trespass order was expired.

Harassment: A caller reported that her ex-boyfriend was sending her threatening messages about posting pictures of her on social media as revenge. This case is currently under investigation.

Gunshots Heard: VPD received a report from a caller stating they heard gunshots near their home. Officers did not locate anyone in the area, but indicated there were a lot of folks at the shooting range.

Welfare Check: VPD was asked to do a welfare check on a boy located in Valdez. Officers made contact with the child who was fine. Officers contacted the mom to let her know.

Fireworks: Individuals in Aleutian Village were given warnings for fireworks.

Stop & FI: While on patrol an officer made contact with individuals parked at the Valdez Glacier. The subjects reported that they were too intoxicated to drive after hiking so they were going to camp out for the night.

Motor Vehicle Accident: A rollover accident was reported on the Tideflats. No injuries were reported.

Animal Impound: A husky mix dog was impounded near The Prospector.

1-16-17 Valdez EMS responded to an individual needing medical attention at the Valdez Jail. The patient was treated at the scene.

1-25-17 Valdez Fire Department responded to a carbon monoxide alarm activation. After investigation of the area, no carbon monoxide was detected.

1-25-17 Valdez EMS responded to a possible overdose. The patient was treated at the scene and transported to Providence Valdez Medical Center.

1-27-17 Valdez Fire Department responded to a carbon monoxide alarm activation. After investigation of the area, no carbon monoxide was detected.

1-28-17 Valdez EMS responded to an individual having chest pains. The patient was treated at the scene and transported to Providence Valdez Medical Center.

1-28-17 Valdez Fire Department responded to a possible propane leak. After investigation of the area, no propane was detected.

1-29-17 Valdez Fire/EMS responded to a motor vehicle accident. The patients were treated at the scene.

1-29-17 Valdez EMS responded to an individual needing medical attention. The patient was treated at the scene and transported to Providence Valdez Medical Center.
