Underage party leads to two adult arrests and one summons
Marijuana and alcohol were allegedly furnished to teens in mid-February
Two Valdez men have been arrested and charged with various allegations related to an underage party that police say occurred last month at a home on Cottonwood Dr.
David Sapp, age 54, and Lawrence D. Ashouwak, age 22, have both been arrested after a teenager contacted his mother on the evening of Feb. 17, and the mother, in turn, contacted police.
The 14-year-old son was allegedly intoxicated at the time and his mother brought him to the police department to answer a few questions.
"During that discussion, the minor disclosed his parent believed he was staying at a friend’s house for the evening. Instead, he, a 15-year old friend, and two 14-year old friends went to a 17-year old friend’s residence," police said in a press release. " The minor disclosed he and his friends drank alcohol and smoked marijuana while at the party."
Sapp has been charged with five misdemeanor counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor. Sapp was released on a bond of $2,500.
Police allege Ashouwak supplied the underage drinkers with alcohol during the evening and has been charged with eight misdemeanors, including four counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor and four counts of furnishing alcohol to under 21.
Another adult that lives in the Cottonwood Dr home, Demie J. Lemmon, age 21, was also summonsed.
Police say the courts has issued an order that prohibits Ashouwak from visiting the Cottonwood Dr. residence and other restrictions.
"... no alcohol or marijuana is allowed in Sapp’s residence, Sapp may not purchase or possess marijuana, and there may be no minors in his residence except his daughter," police said.
