INVITATION TO BID

Operation of the Allison Point Fishing Area Campground

Contract Number: 1272

This Project includes, but is not necessarily limited to:

Operation of the Allison Point Fishing Area Campground.

Sealed bids will be accepted until 5:00 p.m. local time on Friday, March 31, 2017, at the office of Parks & Recreation, 314 Clifton Drive, P.O. Box 307, Valdez, Alaska, 99686.

A non-mandatory pre-bid conference will be held at the Parks and Recreation office located in the Civic Center, 314 Clifton Drive, Valdez, Alaska on Wednesday, March 22, 2017, at 2:00 p.m.

Bid documents may be reviewed, and are available at the Valdez Parks and Recreation Office, City Hall, on the internet at http://www.ci.valdez.ak.us or by calling (907) 835-2531.

The City reserves the right to waive any irregularities or informalities in a bid and to reject any and all bids.

The City of Valdez is accepting applications for one (1) permanent, full-time Administrative Assistant in Building Maintenance.

Duties for this position include, but are not limited to: perform routine clerical and administrative support duties, answer incoming phone calls, input work orders, process and reconcile accounting and technical transactions, greet and assist visitors, and perform other related duties as assigned.

Professional Requirements: Demonstrated knowledge and experience with customer service, record keeping, accounting principles, office operations and advanced computer skills (Microsoft word, excel, and accounting software experience preferable).

Education/Experience: A High School Diploma or GED, (appropriate Associates Degree preferred); and three (3) years’ clerical, accounting, or contracting experience.

The City of Valdez offers an attractive benefit package to include retirement, health insurance and annual leave accrual.

Starting wage is $22.25-$23.69 per hour with benefits. Typing test is required. NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING

The Valdez Planning and Zoning Commission will hold a public hearing on Wednesday, March 22, 2017 at 7:00 p.m. in the City Council Chambers. The purpose of the hearing is to take public testimony on the request to establish a public easement for a bridge across the headwaters of Valdez Glacier Stream at the southern end of the Valdez Glacier Lake. Please see the proposed easement location below:

This is a public hearing only. The Valdez Planning and Zoning Commission will take action on the proposed easement as a recommendation to City Council at the next scheduled Planning and Zoning meeting following the public hearing.

The public is encouraged to attend all public hearings. If attendance is not possible, comments may be presented to the Community & Economic Development Department in writing prior to each meeting. A copy of all public comments will be presented to both the Planning & Zoning Commission and City Council. Submissions by email may be sent to the Director of Community and Economic Development, Lisa Von Bargen at lvonbargen@ci.valdez.ak.us.

NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING

The proposed ordinance would apply to the following zoning districts: Single-Family Residential (RA), Single-and-Two Family Residential (RB), Semi-Rural Residential (RN), Residential Mobile Home (RM), Neighborhood Commercial (NC), and Commercial Residential (CR). The Valdez Planning and Zoning Commission will take action on the proposed zoning ordinance as a recommendation to City Council at the next scheduled Planning and Zoning meeting following the public hearing.

The public is encouraged to attend all public hearings. If attendance is not possible, comments may be presented to the Community & Economic Development Department in writing prior to each meeting. A copy of all public comments will be presented to both the Planning & Zoning Commission and City Council. DEPARTMENT OF ENVIRONMENTAL CONSERVATION

An application package for an Oil Discharge Prevention and Contingency Plan, under Alaska Statute 46.04.030 and in accordance with 18 AAC 75, has been received by the Department of Environmental Conservation. The details are as follow:

Proposed Activity: Review of a major amendment application package for the Valdez Marine Terminal Oil Discharge Prevention and Contingency Plan. This plan and committed adequate resources demonstrates the applicant’s ability to plan to contain, control and clean up an oil discharge from the Valdez Marine Terminal oil terminal facility.

Location: Valdez, Alaska

Potential Results: A potential risk exists of oil spills entering the lands or waters of the state as a result of this operation.

An additional comment period may be provided in accordance with 18 AAC 75.455(d).
