Driving While License Revoked: A witness reported an individual with a revoked driver’s license driving. Officers made contact with the subject at a local church but they denied driving.

Juvenile Issues: Officers’ assistance was requested in retrieving a teenager from a local hotel. The parents and teen had already left when officers arrived. Officers later made contact with the parents at the police department.

Animal DOA: A deceased eagle was found behind the baler facility. The ACO retrieved the eagle.

Animal Neglect: A dog was reported as locked inside a vehicle at a local business for most of the day. The ACO responded but the vehicle was no longer at the business.

Animal at Large: A dog had broken free of its chain and was running at large with the chain still attached. An officer transported the dog to the Animal Shelter and was later released to its owner.

Suspicious Vehicle: A vehicle was reported as driving slowly up and down streets while shining a light into mobile homes. Officers were unable to locate the vehicle.

Disturbance-Noise: Complainant reported their neighbor was playing really loud music. Officers contacted the individual who was listening to music while in the shower and didn’t realize it was loud and agreed to turn it down.

Concealment of Merchandise: A local business reported having a juvenile in custody for shoplifting. Officers responded and transported the juvenile home to their parents. This case will be forwarded to the Juvenile Probation Officer.

Municipal Violation: An individual was reported for cutting wood at MP 7. Officers contacted the individual and advised them to cease cutting wood until they obtain a permit.

Animal DOA: Two deceased rabbits were found in the road near the small boat harbor. No bunnies were found by officers.

Disturbance-Other: An individual was reported walking in the road yelling and spitting at vehicles. Officers contacted the individual who denied spitting or yelling and agreed to be a model citizen.

Agency Assistance: Upon the request of the Palmer Adult Probation Officer, officers contacted an individual on probation and conducted a UA.

Municipal Violation: Caller reported individuals were cutting wood right past “Swan Lake”. Officers contacted the individuals and advised them to obtain a permit before cutting anymore wood.

Agency Assistance: Officers contacted an individual on probation and conducted a UA on request of the Palmer Adult Probation Officer.

Welfare Check: A vehicle was reported parked at the entrance to Deep Lake Dr. for a couple of hours with the engine running; not sure if the vehicle was occupied or not. Officers contacted the registered owner who was visiting a friend and didn’t realize they had left the vehicle running.

Theft of Property: Complainant reported their neighbor had stolen their beer and lighter. Officers were able to recover the beer and lighter and all was well.

Fish & Game: A crow with a broken wing was being attacked by ravens on Dadina St. The ACO responded but was unable to locate a crow in distress.

Harassment: An individual came to VPD and spoke with an officer regarding a neighbor talking bad about them on social media.

Agency Assistance: VPD received a report from OCS. Officers conducted interviews with the parties involved.

Stop FI: Officers contacted two males who were taking pallets from a local business. They were permitted to take such pallets.

Agency Assistance: Caller reported a vehicle was broke down on the Richardson Highway, past city limits. Call was forwarded to the Glennallen Troopers.

Assault Simple: Complainant reported being assaulted by an individual; complainant was hit multiple times. This case is currently under investigation.

Transport-Other: While on patrol, an officer contacted an intoxicated individual walking and provided transportation to their residence.

Domestic Assault/Arrest Warrant: A caller reported being physically assaulted. After investigation, Phillip E. Haskins, DOB: 03/16/1983, of Valdez, was arrested for felony DV Assault 3rd Degree and on an outstanding $1000.00 Wrangell Police Department arrest warrant charging two counts of Theft 3rd Degree.

Possible Drunk Driver: Caller reported a vehicle just left a local bar after they had all been drinking. Officers were unable to locate a vehicle matching the description.

Juvenile Issues: Complainant reported their teen had snuck out of the house during the night, requested officers assistance in locating them. While officers were attempting to locate the teen, they returned home.

Possible Drunk Driver: A vehicle was reported heading outbound on the Richardson Highway swerving and going well below the speed limit. Officers made contact with the driver who had pulled over and had a camera and was looking at the scenery.

Lost Property: A blue, rubber cardholder containing an Alaska Driver’s License, credit cards and a debit card was reported lost. Please turn into the police department if found.

Disturbance-Other: A local business reported an individual was creating a disturbance. The individual had calmed down before the officer arrived.

DUI: David Spain, DOB 1/5/1984, of Willow, was arrested for DUI. BrAC: .109

Welfare Check: Three intoxicated individuals were reported walking around town pulling a toddler on a sled. The caller was concerned about the toddler. Officers were unable to locate the individuals.

3-13-17 Valdez Fire responded to a fire alarm at the City of Valdez Building Maintenance Shop. The call was a false alarm and the alarm was triggered by poor ventilation while painting.

3-14-17 Valdez EMS responded to an individual needing medical attention. The patient was treated at the scene and transported to Providence Valdez Medical Center.

3-14-17 Valdez EMS assisted with a medivac to Gulkana due to weather conditions.

3-18-17 Valdez EMS was on standby during the Mayors Cup Race.
