ONE (1) VACANCY TO SERVE A THREE (3) YEAR TERM
One (1) vacancy exists on the Library Board due to expiration of terms. The City of Valdez is now accepting applications from citizens who would like to be considered for appointment.
The Library Board is an advisory board to the City Council. It is empowered to:
Receive, consider, and evaluate public input, opinions and recommendations regarding the care, staffing, equipping, and managing of the City Library; act in an advisory capacity to the City Council in regard to the planning and implementation of programs dealing with use and development of the City Library and its resources; make recommendations to the City Council regarding the Library budget of the City; develop policies and rules for conduct and frequency of its own meetings; and perform other activities as may be requested of it by the City Council.

PROVIDENCE VALDEZ MEDICAL CENTER HEALTH ADVISORY COUNCIL
ONE VACANCY TO SERVE A ONE YEAR, SEVEN MONTH TERM
The City of Valdez is currently accepting applications to fill one vacancy due to resignation on the Providence Valdez Medical Center Health Advisory Council. This position is appointed by the Valdez City Council and shall serve a partial (one year, seven month) term.
Duties: The Health Advisory Council and its members provide feedback and guidance to Providence regarding the operation of community Health Care Facilities. All guidance received from the Health Advisory Council by Providence is non-binding and advisory only. The Council is comprised of qualified representatives of the community serving with the intent of assisting the Medical Center in its mission of providing quality health care in Valdez and improving community health and wellness. The Health Council has an advisory role in policy formation, strategic development and oversight of health care programs and services. Regular meetings are held monthly with occasional special events where attendance is expected.

Invitation to Bid

Project: VHS Gym Floor Replacement
Project Number: 16-310-9506 / Contract Number: 1294
This project includes, but is not necessarily limited to:
• Abatement and removal of the existing gym flooring.
• Removal and reinstallation of the existing bleachers and wall mounted equipment to support new flooring installation.
• Existing door modification and refinishing.
• New wood sports flooring installation with internal ramps up to playing surface. To include new game lines and center court mascot.
Engineers Estimate for construction under $ 400,000.00.
Sealed bids will be accepted until 4:00pm local time on April 7, 2017 at the office of the Capital Facilities Director, 300 Airport Road, Suite 201, P. O. Box 307, Valdez, Alaska 99686. The bids will be publicly opened and read at that time.
A non-mandatory pre-bid conference will be held at the office of the Capital Facilities Director, 300 Airport Road, Suite 201, Valdez, Alaska on March 28th, 2017 at 8:30am. Following the Pre-Bid conference will be a site visit to the Valdez High School Gym.

Bidders are encouraged to download, fill out, and return the Request for Addendum form located at the link listed above to ensure receipt of any addendum issued for this project.
Bid security in the amount of 5% of the total bid is required.
For bids in excess of $100,000, Payment and Performance Bonds in the amount of 100% of the contract amount are required.
The City reserves the right to waive any irregularities or informalities in a bid and to reject any and all bids without cause.
Current minimum prevailing wage rates as published by the Alaska Department of Labor must be paid as required by AS 36.05.070.
Requirements of the Alaska Employment Preference (AS 36.10) must be met.
Solicitation of bids, award of bid, bid protest of qualified bidders and award of contract will be conducted in accordance with 04 AAC 31.080. Bid protests may be filed within 10 days after notice of Intent to Award is issued.
