07/17

Theft Money: Money was reported stolen from a tip jar at a food truck. The caller wanted to report the incident for documentation purposes.

Bear Incident:2 black bears were reported wandering around on W Lowe.

Bear Incident: A caller reported a Black bear going from the front door to the back door of a trailer. Officers responded but the bear had left the area.

Runaway Juvenile: A caller reported that her niece snuck out of the house and was missing. The person called back later to report her niece was located.

Bear Incident: A caller reported a black bear going after their dogs at Glacier Campground. Officers responded to the area and found the bear was gone but had been in the dumpster. The Animal Control Officer followed up the next day.

Trespassing: A local business requested to have 2 former employees trespassed from their property. An officer contacted the individuals and advised them that they had been trespassed.

Fish & Game: A caller reported a coyote on the tide flats. The Community Safety Officer responded to the area but did not see a coyote in the area.

Bear Incident: A caller reported a brown bear in her yard. The Animal Control Officer responded to the area and found that the bear had run up a tree.

Home Confinement: Basden, Jason Mitchell DOB 11/18/79, of Valdez reported to Valdez Police Department to serve a 3 day sentence. Original charge was DUI.

MVA-D: A caller reported a Motor Vehicle accident between 2 vehicles. Officers responded to the scene and issued par forms.

Lost Property: A caller reported losing his Alyeska ID badge and Twix card. If found please turn into the Valdez Police Department.

MVA-D: A caller reported that a three year old drove a golf cart into another vehicle. No injuries reported. Officers responded to the area, investigated the incident. It was on private property with no injuries.

Lost Property: A caller reported she lost her camera in the Valdez area while kayaking or at Allison Point. If found please turn into the Police Department.

Disturbance Other: A caller reported a man and a woman in a vehicle arguing and fighting. An Officer responded to the area and found it was a verbal argument.

Theft of Bicycle: A caller reported a dark grey Kona Shred bike was stolen from the Small Boat Harbor. If found please turn into the Valdez Police Department.

Disturbance Noise: A caller reported yelling and screaming coming from a neighbor’s house. An Officer responded to the area and found that it was a verbal argument only.

Bear Related Calls: The Animal Control Officer stopped to check on some campers that were having issues with bears and their dogs. The campers were advised to feed the dogs inside so it would not attract the bears.

Bear Related Calls: A local RV park owner called to report bears on the side of the road by the park. The sow and two cubs crossed over to the Kiosk. The Community Service Officer responded to the area until the bears wondered off.

Serve Time: Peter A. Brusky, DOB 08/02/1954, of Valdez, reported to the Valdez Jail to serve time on a Probation Violation. Original charges MIW 2nd degree x 2, MIW 4th degree, Reckless Endangerment x 2. Mr. Brusky was released the following day as time served.

Criminal Mischief: A caller reported Harbor Drive was a mess. A Kayak was in the middle of the road, things were knocked over and she had stuff missing from her property. Officers responded to the area, moved items out of the street and up righted others.

Suspicious Vehicle: A caller reported a vehicle left at the pump on airport road. Officers responded to the area but were not able to locate the owner. When they returned later the vehicle had been moved.

Litter, Pollution, Public Health: A caller reported that someone had dumped a large amount of trash into the dumpster and over filled it. After investigating the person was contacted and cleaned the area up.

Parking problems: A caller reported an RV sticking out into the road at the Small Boat Harbor and wanted something done about it. An Officer responded to the area but was unable to locate the owner of the vehicle.

Bear Related Calls: While on patrol an Officer found a bear in a subdivision. He shot off some cracker rounds to scare the bear away.

Violating Conditions of Release: David L. Miller, dob 11/11/1980, of Valdez was arrested for Violating Conditions of Release on a pending Nome case of Felony DV Assault 2nd degree and 2 counts of DV Assault 4th degree. Mr. Miller is currently held at the Valdez Jail on $250 bail.

Bear Related Calls: A caller reported that a bear ripped up his four wheeler seat and shroud. Officers responded to the area to investigate.

Bear Related Calls: A report of a bear in the area of the skate park was received. An Officer responded to the area did not find a bear at the skate park; someone said it ran off into the bushes.

Disturbance Noise: A caller reported that people working on a boat in the dry dock area were being too loud.

Citation: St Pierre, Marcell H. DOB: 4/22/72, of Arizona was issued a citation for Driving While License Suspended or Revoked.

DUI: Aaron P. Sellers, DOB 8/9/85 of Valdez was arrested for DUI. He registered a breath-alcohol content of .179

Welfare Check: A welfare check was requested for an individual who did not feel safe in the community. An Officer responded to the area and gave the individual a ride to a safe place.

Bear Related Call: While on patrol an Officer fired two cracker rounds a bear that was getting into the trash.

Traffic Hazard: A caller reported glass on the Highway at the duck flats. An Officer responded to the area and found another area that had glass. The Valdez Baler facility was contacted for assistance.

Traffic Hazard: A caller reported glass on the road heading to the Betty Cato Bridge. An Officer responded to the area and cleaned up the glass.

07/22

Bench Warrant Arrest: Frank E. Cook, DOB 01/03/1949, was arrested on a bench warrant for failure to appear for arraignment on an original charge of DUI. Mr. Cook was released on $500 bail.

Citizen Assist: An Officer stopped with a vehicle that had its hazards on. The person had a flat tire and the Officer assisted with changing the tire.

Fish & Game: A caller reported a guy shot a moose at 58 mile. This case was turned over to the Alaska State Troopers.

Traffic Complaint: A caller reported a vehicle driving fast and passing people on the right. An Officer contacted the driver.

ATV: While on patrol an Officer stopped some 4 wheelers and explained the rules for driving w/o a valid driver’s license to two of the drivers. One 4 wheeler was parked until a valid driver could move it.

07/23

DUI: A motor vehicle accident with injuries was reported at the intersection of Airport Rd and Richardson Hwy. Police and EMS responded to the scene. Upon investigation, Brooke C. Bellamy, DOB:10/22/80, of Valdez was arrested for DUI, 2 counts of Reckless Driving, and issued a citation for Insurance Requirements. Ms. Bellamy was released the same day on $500 bail.

Assault: VPD received a report of a disturbance at a local hotel. Upon arrival, officers found a female being detained and was intoxicated and highly combative. After investigation, Michaela M. Mercier, DOB 12/13/1989, of North Pole, was arrested for 2 counts of DV Assault 4th degree. Ms. Mercier was released the next day on her own recognizance.

Strange Activity: A caller reported people in a local business and did not think anyone should be there at that time. An Officer responded to the business, everything was locked and secure. No one was in the area.

Violating Conditions of Release: Tisha D. Watts, DOB 06/30/1982, of Valdez was arrested for Violating Conditions of Release on prior charges of Felony Assault 2nd degree, Reckless Endangerment, DUI and Disorderly Conduct. Ms. Watts is currently being held at the Valdez Jail with no bail.

Found Property: Two Phone chargers were found in the bathroom at City Hall. Call the Valdez Police Department with descriptors to claim.

Barking Dog: A caller reported a dog had been tied to a pole for the past 6 hours and it whining and crying. An Officer responded to the area but the owner had taken the dog away.

Runaway Juvenile: A caller reported that his daughter ran away. Officers searched the Valdez area and contacted numerous people. The caller called back to state the Juvenile was at home.
