Domestic Assault - It was reported that there was a couple yelling and screaming in the street, one of whom was intoxicated. Police responded and arrested one party.

Arrested – Ryan Olaf Stock, DOB 04/21/83, of Valdez was arrested for DV Assault in the 4th Degree. Mr. Stock was held at the Valdez Jail and released the following day on an unsecured bond of $1000.

Bear Incident – A small black bear had torn up trash at a residence on Foraker Street. The RO cleaned up the trash and secured it in the dumpster.

Routine School Patrol – Officers performed routine school patrol of the Valdez schools.

Strange Activity – A Valdez resident reported someone walking around on their roof. Officers responded, climbed up on the roof and made sure everything was safe and secure with the house. No person was found.

Fish & Game – There was a live bat on the wall outside of the entrance door of Herman Hutchens Elementary which was attracting children and thus causing traffic jams for vehicles. A Community Safety Officer responded and collected the bat to release back into the wild elsewhere.

Animal at Large – A small white poodle mix was running around and people were worried it was going to get hit by a car. Police responded and found the dog with its owner.

Bar Check – Officer responded to a complaint of two intoxicated individuals harassing some of the complainant’s workers. Officer found everything locked up and nobody around.

Bear Incident – A driver hit a black bear on the Richardson Hwy. The hit was fatal to the bear and the baler facility was called to dispose of the bear body.

Bear Incident – Brown bears out at the landfill got hazed away by officers after a report of the bears being aggressive towards workers.

Public Appearance – Officers took the Mobile Emergency Response Vehicle to the High School to talk about crime scenes.

Agency Assist – VPD assisted the Office of Child Services in locating a parent of a child that needed checking up on.

Animal Impound – Officers impounded a loose puppy.

09/16

Traffic Complaint – A bear on the tide flats was causing congestion to the roadway. Officers ushered pedestrians off of the roadway.

09/17

Traffic Hazard – A broom was removed from the roadway at Glacier Stream Bridge.

Fish & Game – Fish & Wildlife Trooper responded to the report of an illegal moose getting shot at mile post 58 Rich Hwy.

Welfare Check – VPD assisted Fairbanks police in determining the location of an injured person whose whereabouts were unknown. Fairbanks dispatch was able to ping the victim’s cell phone which was in the Fairbanks area.

911 Hang Up – Dispatch received a 911 hang up call from a local business. A VPD officer responded to make sure everything was okay.

9-11-17 Valdez EMS responded to the Valdez City jail to check on an inmate needing medical assistance.

9-12-17 Valdez EMS responded to an individual needing medical assistance. The patient was treated at the scene and transported to Providence Valdez Medical Center.

9-13-17 Valdez Search & Rescue responded to 5 hikers needing assistance while hiking Shoup Bay trail.

9-14-17 Valdez Fire responded to a fire alarm activation on Homestead Road. The call ended up being a false alarm.
