Field Investigation: While on patrol an Officer saw a vehicle that was pulled over on the side of the road. The officer assisted the driver by giving them a ride into town.

Theft Property: Two juveniles were reported stealing merchandise from local businesses. Officers were able to locate the juveniles and the stolen merchandise. The juveniles were released to their parents and charges were forwarded to the Juvenile Intake Officer.

Animal at Large: A caller reported two dogs at large. The animal control officer responded and found the dogs in their yard and advised the owner that the dogs had to be on a leash.

Public Service: An officer gave a family a tour of the jail facilities.

Parking: A caller reported that his vehicle had broken down, it is not abandoned and he would be moving it later in the week.

Possible Drunk Driver: A caller reported a vehicle swerving back and forth between the lines and possibly driving impaired. Officers contacted the driver and determined there was no alcohol involved. The driver stated that the person behind them had high beams on.

Disturbance Other: An intoxicated individual trying to start a fight was reported at a local residence. An Officer responded and found a person matching the description; a friend gave them a ride home.

Public Assistance: A caller reported an individual needing assistance. An officer contacted the individual and provided transportation.

Theft of Property: A local resident reported fuel stolen from their fuel tank. This case is currently under investigation.

Fire Alarm: A fire alarm was activated at the middle school. An officer and the fire department responded to the area but there was no fire.

Fish & Game: A report of a bat at the high school was received. The animal control officer responded to the area, secured the bat, and relocated it.

Public Service: An Officer gave a presentation to the forensics class at the high school.

Animal at Large: A caller reported a large dog loose near their house. The animal control officer responded to the area but was unable to locate any loose dogs.

Bear Incident: A caller reported a black bear in their yard that has been coming around for several days and had gained access to their vehicle. An officer responded to the residence and found the bear had brought garbage onto the caller’s property. The bear was attracted to the vehicle because of something that smelled good to him was left in the truck. The owner of the vehicle was told to secure their truck.

Lost Property: A caller reported that they lost a gold band ring somewhere around town. If found please turn into the Valdez Police Department.

Oil Spill: Alyeska Terminal called to report an oil spill at berth 5, no assistance requested.

Intoxicated Pedestrian: A caller reported an individual crashed on their bicycle and appeared intoxicated. Another caller reported the same person was knocking on their door and appeared intoxicated or impaired. An officer responded to the location but was unable to locate anyone matching the description.

Disturbance Other: A caller reported several individuals were fighting in the harbor area. Officers arrived and ascertained that it was a verbal argument only and one of the individuals had already left the area.

Welfare Check: An individual requested a welfare check for their significant other who was possibly having suicidal thoughts. Officers contacted the individual and found that they were ok and were not thinking about hurting themselves.

Lost Property: A business envelope with cash and a debit card was reported lost in the Valdez area. If found please turn into the Valdez Police Department.

MVA w/Damage: A motor vehicle accident with damage was reported on the Richardson Highway. A driver was hit from behind and caused damage to their vehicle. The driver of the second vehicle reported that they were having issues with their brakes which caused the accident.

Criminal Mischief: Arrested Alexandria N C Santana, DOB 3/8/92, of Valdez for DV Criminal Mischief in the 4th Degree.

Disturbance Other: A caller requested help with their spouse who was having a nervous breakdown. Officers arrived on scene and determined the pair were having a verbal argument over the end of their marriage.

Welfare Check: An intoxicated individual was reported stumbling through yards. The individual was contacted and was heading towards their residence and found to be alright.

Found Property: An IPod was found outside a local business. To claim please call the Valdez Police Department.

Civil Dispute: A parent requested help in retrieving their children from the other parent. Officers informed the individual that there wasn’t a custody order in place to allow the officers to assist. They were instructed to go to court to request a custody order.

9-18-17 Valdez Fire responded to a fire alarm activation At Silver Bay Seafood’s. The call ended up being a false alarm.

9-19-17 Valdez Fire responded to a fire alarm activation at the Valdez Middle School. The call ended up being a false alarm.

9-19-17 Valdez EMS responded to an individual needing medical assistance. The patient was treated at the scene and transported to Providence Valdez Medical Center.

9-22-17 Valdez EMS responded to an individual needing medical assistance. The patient was treated at the scene and transported to Providence Valdez Medical Center.

9-23-17 Valdez EMS responded to an individual needing medical assistance. The patient was treated at the scene and transported to Providence Valdez Medical Center.
