04/09

Arrest Warrant: Corie J. Taylor, DOB: 10/05/1983, of Valdez was arrested for charges of DV Criminal Mischief 5 and 3 counts of Violating Conditions of Release. Original charges are Disorderly Conduct, Resisting Arrest, and Driving While License Revoked. Mr. Taylor went to arraignment the following day and was released on his Own Recognizance.

Found Property: An iPhone was turned in to the Valdez Police Department. The owner was contacted and the phone was returned to the owner.

Animal at Large: A dog was loose at Valdez Mobile Home Park. The Animal Control Officer responded and patrolled the area and found no dogs roaming the area.

Misrouted 911 Call: VPD dispatch received a 911 call requesting EMS. After further questioning, the individual was trying to reach Cross Roads local 911 in the Glennallen area.

Possible Drunk Driver: VPD received a REDDI report (Report Every Drunk Driver Immediately) for a truck that was driving at a slow rate of speed and swerving all over the road. Officers responded to the location and contacted the driver. They were negative for any impairment.

MVA – Damage: A truck hit a pole that holds a score board up at the Gold Fields causing the wires to be exposed. Persons involved were contacted. This case is under investigation.

Traffic Complaint: A Gray Ford F150 was reported speeding through Robe River Subdivision. The complainant requested additional patrol in the area during certain times to curb the speeding issue.

Animal Impound: A small light brown female dog was running loose in Alpine Woods. An officer responded to the location and took the dog to the animal shelter.

Public Appearance: An officer appeared at a local business and talked about distracted driving.

Animal Impound: Two dogs were reported at large in Robe River Subdivision. The Animal Control Officer caught one of the dogs and the other ran off. The one dog was taken to the animal shelter.

Welfare Check: A welfare check was requested on an individual at Meals & Gulkana who looked disoriented. The individual had left the area prior to officer arrival.

Smoke Present/No Flames: VPD assisted VFD for the report of smoke coming from a residence. It was found that the homeowner was burning garbage in the back yard. VPD would like to remind residence to call dispatch and report prior to burning.

Trespassing: An individual was requested to be trespassed from a local business. An officer contacted the individual and advised them of the trespass notice.

Open Door: An open door was reported at a local business. An officer patrolled the area, cleared the building, and contacted the owner. The door was secured per the owner’s request.

Theft of Property: A hand-made carbon material long board with real marijuana leaves lacquered on the bottom was stolen from the Harbormaster bathroom. If found or seen in someone’s possession, please report details to the Valdez Police Department.

Suspicious Person: 2-3 unknown individuals were reported walking around on private property on Homestead Rd. Officers thoroughly patrolled the area but were unable to locate anyone in the area.

Burglar Alarm: A burglar alarm was activated at a local business. Officers contacted the individuals who had accidently activated the alarm.

Controlled Substance: An envelope containing white powder was found in the bathroom at a local business. This case is under investigation.

General Contact: An individual reported that their Facebook account was hacked and was being blackmailed. VPD would like to remind anyone who has social media to take caution when communicating with unknown individuals.

DUI Arrest: VPD received a REDDI report of an individual who had an odor of alcohol on their person, got in their vehicle and drove away. Officers extensively patrolled the Valdez area and contacted the individual. Christopher Lance White, DOB: 09/18/1969, of Valdez was arrested on a felony charge of Driving under the Influence. He registered a breath-alcohol content of .172. Mr. White was remanded and taken to the Valdez Jail. After arraignment the following day, Mr. White was released on Electronic Monitoring.

Arrested: Monika Anita White, DOB: 12/06/1972, of Valdez was arrested for Violating Conditions of Release. Ms. White is currently on conditions of a pending case for DUI. Per conditions, Ms. White was remanded to the Valdez Jail. After arraignment the following day, Ms. White was released on Electronic Monitoring.

Welfare Check: An individual in dark clothing was hitchhiking on the side of the highway. The caller was concerned that they might get hit by a car. Officers contacted the individual who indicated that they will be sure to stay out of the road.

04/14

Burglar Alarm: A burglar alarm was activated at a local business. Officers responded and found a door to be open. The building was cleared and the responsible party was contacted.

Suspicious Persons: Residents had heard their car alarm activated during late hours of the night. While assessing the situation, they witnessed two individuals riding away on bicycles. Officers patrolled the area and were unable to make contact with the individuals. VPD would like to remind residents to make sure their vehicles are secured and locked.

Public Appearance: An officer attended “Walk a Mile in Her Shoes”.

Aggressive Animal: A caller reported that a neighbor’s dog is extremely aggressive. This is under investigation by the Animal Control Officer.

Suspicious Person: A suspicious person was inside a local business after business hours. When noticed, the person quickly fled from the area. Officers responded and cleared the building to verify no one else was inside and verified the doors were secure.

Traffic Complaint: A camper van was reported driving with their light bar on blinding oncoming traffic. An officer contacted the driver and advised them of the situation. They were given a warning for headlight dimming requirements.

Noise Disturbance: Individuals having a bonfire were reported yelling and being loud after quiet time hours. Officers responded to the area and asked them to keep the noise down. The individuals complied.

Arrested: Russell David Holford, DOB: 07/02/1964, of Valdez was arrested for Violating Conditions of Release. Original charge is DUI. Mr. Holford was remanded to the Valdez Jail for processing and released to a sober party on his Own Recognizance.

04/15

Animal at Large: A black stray dog was running around the area of W. Pioneer. An officer patrolled the area and was unable to locate the dog.

Lost Property: A rose colored iPhone 7 Plus was lost at John Kelsey Dock. If found, please turn in to the Valdez Police Department.

Intoxicated Pedestrian: An intoxicated adult male was reported to have crashed his bike and may need assistance. Prior to officer arrival, the man was helped inside his residence.

Citizen Contact: An officer contacted individuals by the river behind the Gold Fields who were about to burn some pallets. They were advised of the municipal code regarding burning in the area and were instructed not to do so.

Animal Impound: A cat was turned in to the Animal Shelter.

Burglar Alarm: A burglar alarm was activated at a local business. Officers responded and found it to be a door that had accidently blown up and activated the alarm.

4-9-18 Valdez EMS responded to a medivac request.

4-12-18 Valdez EMS responded to a medivac request.

4-12-18 Valdez Fire Department responded to a fire on S. Snowtree. The fire was classified as a control burn. The homeowner was informed of notifying dispatch of controlled burns.

4-12-18 Valdez EMS responded to an individual needing medical attention. The patient was treated at the scene and transported to Providence Valdez Medical Center.

4-12-18 Valdez EMS responded to a medivac request.

4-13-18 Valdez EMS responded to an individual needing medical attention. The patient was treated at the scene and transported to Providence Valdez Medical Center.

4-14-18 Valdez EMS responded to an individual needing medical attention. The patient was treated at the scene and transported to Providence Valdez Medical Center.

4-14-18 Valdez Fire Department responded to an oven fire. The fire was extinguished upon arrival.

4-14-18 Valdez EMS responded to an individual needing assistance to their residence.
