Suspicious Activity: A caller reported seeing a person by a vehicle right before the alarm started going off. Officers responded but there was no one near the vehicle and there was not an alarm heard.

Parking: Two individuals living in a U Haul trailer parked by the harbor were asked to move the trailer.

MVA: A driver reported they hit a caribou near the Tok cut off and there were no injuries. The information was forwarded to Glennallen Troopers.

Noise Disturbance: A caller reported a car alarm repeatedly going off. Officers were unable to make contact with the owner of the vehicle but contacted the owner’s roommate who was able to assist.


Criminal Mischief: Officers investigated damage to the Alyeska access gate. Security was notified and informed VPD they were aware of the damage along with other damage and were working on correcting it.

Traffic Hazard: Officers helped clean up large pieces of scattered wood in the road way near the Tide Flats causing a traffic hazard.

MVA: A caller reported a vehicle had backed into his vehicle in the Wellness Center parking lot. Minor damage was reported and PAR forms were issued.

Flood Watch: Officers assisted in monitoring water levels throughout the city during the course of the rain.

Reckless Driving: A driver was reported driving erratically and crossing the white line on the Richardson Highway. Officers made contact with the driver at their house, no alcohol was detected.

Agency Assist: An out of town agency requested Valdez Police assistance in locating an individual requesting help. It was determined that the individual was not located in Valdez.


Assist Medical: Officers assisted EMS with a patient at Hotel Glacier.

Harassment: Dispatch received a report of a Valdez resident yelling obscenities at an employee while working.


Citizen Contact: Officers stopped with a vehicle pulled over on the side of the road to see if they needed assistance. It was a tourist waiting on the Northern Lights.

Animal at Large: The animal control officer picked up two dogs that were running at large on Robe River Drive.

Agency Assist: A probation agency requested assistance with getting a DNA swab from one of their probationers.

MVA: A caller reported damage to his vehicle that he believed was obtained sometime that morning while at work. Officers responded and took a statement and photographs. No investigative leads at this time.

Criminal Mischief: A caller reported criminal mischief on a building around MP 19. Officers discovered broken windows and a broken lock on the building but no timeline of when the damage could have occurred. Officers advised the caller to look into getting the building removed to avoid further issues.

Civil Dispute: A caller reported his vehicle stolen. After further investigation, it was discovered the vehicle was sold, however, he hadn’t received his final payment.

Serve Time: Matthew Downing, DOB 12/30/93 of Valdez, checked into the Valdez Jail to serve time on his original charge Driving While License Revoked.

Animal DOA: Officers removed a dead porcupine from the roadway at the Tide Flats.


Serve Time: Dane Gilson, DOB 02/13/84 of Valdez, checked into the Valdez Jail to serve time on his original charge Driving While License Revoked.

Assist Medical: Officers assisted EMS with a patient that was unconscious at his home.

Found Property: A bicycle was found near West Egan Drive. If you believe this is yours, call the Valdez Police Department with descriptors to claim.

Arrest: Shiloh Stamm, DOB 12/03/75 of Valdez, was arrested on a failure to comply bench warrant on his original charge of Driving Under the Influence. He was held to serve 10 days.

Remand: Brandon Dodd, DOB 10/27/80 of Valdez, was remanded to the Valdez Jail for a felony probation violation.

Arrest: Osvaldo Carrillo, DOB 07/10/87 of Valdez, was arrested on the charge Violating a Stalking Order.


Arrest: Forrest Shumate, DOB 05/16/95 of Valdez, was arrested on charges of Driving Under the Influence and Misconduct Involving Weapons 4th degree, and issued a citation for Minor Consuming Alcohol. Shumate registered a breath-alcohol content of .136.

Welfare Check: Officers attempted to check on a man after he was reported staggering down a street and not dressed for the weather. He was contacted at his friends house and was fine.

Fireworks: A caller reported fireworks being set off in the Valdez area. Officers were unable to locate the source.


Arrest: Christopher Brown, DOB 11/25/90 of Valdez, was arrested on the charge Driving Under the Influence. Brown registered a breath-alcohol content of .117. He is now serving time on the incident.

Bar Disturbance: An irate woman went into a local bar and starting yelling obscenities at an employee. Officers documented the information.

Welfare Check: A caller reported a woman yelling from her residence throughout the night. Officers contacted the individual who was having a hard time going to sleep.

Gunshots Heard: Gunshots were heard around the Valdez Glacier. Officers responded but were unable to locate anyone.

Animal Noise: Officers responded to the residence of a dog that had been reported barking all day outside. The person watching after the dog was contacted and asked to bring the dog inside.

9-29-15 Valdez Hazmat Team responded to South Harbor Drive to investigate a spill.

9-30-15 Valdez EMS responded to a medical request for an individual who was injured. The individual was treated at the scene and transported to Providence Valdez Medical Center.

10-2-15 Valdez EMS responded to a medical request for an individual. The patient was treated at the scene and transported to Providence Valdez Medical Center.
