Animal at Large: A brown and black dog was reported running around at large in the entryway of the Valdez High School. The Animal Control Officer responded and was able to contact the owner to deliver the dog to their residence on Robe River Drive.

Suspicious Person: A European tourist wearing a full gas mask was making the patrons at the Valdez Library uneasy. He refused to remove the mask; citing harassment. Officers informed the individual that he would not be allowed to wear the mask while inside the facility.

Welfare Check: After witnessing a verbal dispute between two individuals, a complainant requested Officers conduct a welfare check on the parties involved. Officers made contact and determined both parties were okay, the disagreement was of a personal matter.

Violate Conditions of Release: A recently bailed out defendant was found to have violated the conditions of her release by having contact with an individual she was court ordered not to. This occurred as she was being released from jail to the custody of her court appointed third party custodian.

Arrested : Mary Rae Kagak, DOB 12/02/1980, of Valdez, was arrested and charged with Violating Conditions of Release on the original misdemeanor charges of DV Assault 4th Degree and 2 counts of Criminal Mischief 4th Degree.

Violation of Custodial Duties: A court appointed third party custodian was determined to be in violation of her custodial duties after she failed to report a violation of court ordered conditions of release.

Arrested: Cora Irene Akpik, DOB 01/31/1955, of Wainwright, was arrested and charged with Violation of Custodian Duties.


Welfare Check: Officers made contact with an individual following her out-of-state brother reporting being concerned for her welfare after he was unable to get a hold of her for a few weeks. It turns out that she was fine; she just didn’t want to talk to her brother.

Unlawful Contact: While in custody at the Valdez Jail, an inmate called a person multiple times in violation of court orders.

Arrested: Mary Rae Kagak, DOB 12/02/1980, of Valdez, was charged with 3 additional charges of Unlawful Contact 1st Degree while in custody at the Valdez Jail.

Suspicious Person: A caller reported finding a man’s identification in her home. Officers are investigating.

Arrested: Jamie John Franklin Fletcher-Gilbert, DOB 09/06/1983, of Valdez, was arrested and charged with Driving with License Revoked/Suspended/Cancelled.


Trespassing: Officers assisted with serving an individual a written Notice of Trespass for the Library stemming from incidents earlier in the week.

Family Issues: A caller wished to speak with an Officer regarding his spouse allegedly trespassing him from their property. The Officer informed the caller, who is in the process of getting divorced, that the VPD did not currently have a case involving either party in this regard.


Burglary: A theft of firearms, keys and money was reported. Officers are investigating. Anyone with any information, please call the VPD.

Violate Domestic Violence Protective Order: Dispatch received a report of a possible violation of a protective order, but Officers determined no violation had occurred.


Domestic Assault: An agitated caller reported to dispatch that she was about to trespass and commit criminal mischief. A secondary caller reported an incident of domestic violence had just occurred and Officers were needed on scene.

Arrested: Faye Nicole Buckau, DOB 09/01/1989, of Valdez, was arrested for DV Assault 3rd Degree a Felony due to too many prior convictions of Assault. Ms. Buckau was charged with two additional counts of Assault 3 after she kicked two officers.

Possible Intoxicated Driver: Officers contacted the driver of a vehicle reported as driving erratically and swerving all over the road. The driver was not intoxicated, but was issued a citation for not having insurance.

Trespassing: A person who has been trespassed from the library left voluntarily after being reminded they were not to be on the premises. Officers were not involved.

Harassment: A complaint of telephonic harassment was reported to the VPD. Officers contacted the harasser and warned him to cease and desist with the prank phone calls.

Animal at Large: After finding two dogs roaming at large in Alpine Woods near the highway, a concerned party was able to reunite the dogs with their separate owners before they needed to be impounded.

Animal at Large: A large brown dog was reported roaming around Black Gold Subdivision. Officers responded, but the dog was no longer in the area.

Motor Vehicle Accident – No Damage: An accident involving a parked car was reported to have taken place in the high school parking lot.


Serve Time: Gavin Zachary Delozier, DOB 1/03/1992, of Valdez, reported to the Valdez Jail to serve a sentence of 10 days for the original charge of Driving with License Revoked/Suspended/Cancelled.

Welfare Check: Officers were requested to check on an individual after her sister reported receiving a disturbing email from her. Officers contacted the individual who was fine and told her to call her sister.

Snowmachine: A caller reported confronting a snowmachiner on a non-motorized trail who had gotten ‘snippy’ and stated he was unaware of the restrictions. The snowmachine was not in the area when Officers responded.

Lost Property: An Iphone 5 with a teal colored life proof case was reported lost somewhere in the vicinity of the medical clinic. If found, please turn in to the VPD.


Abandoned Vehicle: Officers left messages for the owner of what appeared to be an abandoned vehicle.

1-26-16 Valdez EMS were requested for a public assistance call.

1-27-16 Valdez EMS responded to a medical call for an individual having difficulty breathing. The patient was treated at the scene.

1-28-16 Valdez Hazmat team was called to investigate a gas leak.

1-28-16 Valdez EMS responded to a medical call. The patient was treated at the scene and transported to Providence Valdez Medical Center.

1-29-16 The Valdez Fire department responded to a chimney fire on Dadina Street. The fire was extinguished.

1-29-16 Valdez EMS responded to a medical call. The patient was treated at the scene and with no transport.

1-31-16 Valdez EMS responded to a medical request for an individual having chest pains. The patient was treated at the scene and transported to Providence Valdez Medical Center.
