(Any charges reported in this press release are merely accusations and the Defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty.)


Arrested: VPD received information about a drug shipment coming through the USPS. Officers arrested Rhonda McConkie, DOB: 1/1/67, of Valdez when she picked up the package from the Post Office. Ms. McConkie was arraigned and remains in custody. Bail conditions were set at $5,000 cash and 24 Hour Third Party Custodian.

Disturbance: Officers responded to a report of a disturbance between two females at a local residence. Complainant stated the two had gotten into an altercation, but didn’t want to press charges, just wanted her gone.

Serve Time: Christopher Silva, DOB: 2/23/81, of Valdez checked into the Valdez jail to serve 10 days on a conviction of Driving While License Suspended/Revoked.


Disturbance: Officers responded to a report of a disturbance between two roommates at a local residence. Complainant stated that he and his roommate had gotten into a verbal altercation and he wanted him removed from his residence. The individual had left before officers arrived.

Possible Child Abuse: VPD received a report of possible child abuse after an individual noticed bruising on a child’s neck. This case is under investigation.

Public Service: Officers assisted the school with an ALICE Evacuation Drill.

Lost Property: A wallet containing and ID and debit card was reported lost sometime in the last three weeks in the Valdez area. If you have found a wallet, please turn it in to the Police Department.


Lost Property: A driver’s license was reported lost. Please turn in to the Police Department if found.

Traffic Complaint: VPD received a report that a single cab grey dodge pickup with “cummings” sticker on the back was speeding on North Harbor Drive. Officers located the vehicle. The complainant did not want to sign a citation and the driver denied driving fast. The driver was given a warning.


Disturbance: A female caller reported her ex-boyfriend was at her residence and wouldn’t leave. The subject left before officers arrived.

Lost Property: A pair of prescription glasses was reported lost around the Dock Point area. If found, please turn them into the Police Department.

MVA – D: Officers responded to a report of a one car rollover at MP 4 of the Rich Hwy. No injuries were reported. The vehicle was towed to a repair shop.


Theft of Money: VPD dispatch received a call from an individual reporting that one of his employees was missing money. This case is under investigation.

Arrested: Osvaldo Carrillo, DOB: 7/10/87, of Valdez was arrested on charges of Burglary 1st Degree, Assault 4th Degree and Criminal Trespass 1st Degree. Officers had responded to a report that Mr. Carrillo was sending threatening messages to his ex-girlfriend. Officers located him at his residence. After further investigating it was determined that the incident on Feb 11, 2016 was more serious. Mr. Carrillo had forced his way in to the residence and assaulted a male subject who is the current boyfriend of his ex and then left before officers arrived. Mr. Carrillo remains in custody on No Bail.

Traffic Complaint: A white Dodge Crew cab pulling a snowmachine was reported to be driving recklessly through the Canyon. Officers responded and could not locate any vehicles matching the description given.

Neighbor Issues: VPD received a call from an individual stating that his neighbor was trying to pull him into an argument/physical altercation and that he was going to sue him over his dog. The caller was advised to stay in his residence, along with his dogs and avoid his neighbor.


Fish & Wildlife: A weasel was reported to be in the entry way of the hospital and the staff was requesting assistance in removing it. The weasel was released before officers arrived.

Aggressive Animal: A caller reported that she was walking her dogs on a leash and her neighbor’s dog attacked her dogs. One of her dogs was bitten on the lip. The information was passed onto the Animal Control Officer.

Civil Standby: A caller reported that she had terminated her relationship with her boyfriend and wanted her stuff back. He had thrown her stuff out, but all appeared in good condition. Officers stood by while she retrieved them.

MVA – Hit & Run: A vehicle was reported to have been damaged by another while parked in front of the pharmacy between the hours of 11:30am and 1:30pm. If you have any information on this please contact the Police Department.


Suspicious Person: A caller reported that an unknown man was walking in and out of her neighbor’s house. The caller further stated that he was talking to himself like he was “tweaking”. Officers responded and determined that the individual should be evaluated my medical personnel. He was transported to the Counseling Center.
