Invitation to Bid

Project: Clark Street Drainage & Street Repair

Project Number: 15-350-1417 / Contract Number: 1256

This project includes, but is not necessarily limited to:

Providing all labor, materials, tools, equipment, transportation, supervision, and facilities necessary for improving Clark Street. Major items of Work for the Project are broken out as follows: Furnish and install 1,660 Tons of Classified Fill and Backfill; 382 Tons of Leveling Course; 3,175 SY of Pavement Removal; 490 LF of P.C.C. Curb & Gutter; 30 SY of Curb Ramp; 402 Tons of A.C. Pavement; and other related items of work.

Engineers Estimate for construction under $ 375,000.

Sealed bids will be accepted until 2:00pm local time on August 1, 2016, at the office of the Capital Facilities Director, 300 Airport Road, Suite 201, P. O. Box 307, Valdez, Alaska 99686. The bids will be publicly opened and read at that time.

A non-mandatory pre-bid conference will be held at the office of the Capital Facilities Director, 300 Airport Road, Suite 201, Valdez, Alaska on July 21, 2016 at 10:00am.

Bidders are encouraged to download, fill out, and return the Request for Addendum form located at the link listed above to ensure receipt of any addendum issued for this project.

Bid security in the amount of 5% of the total bid is required.

The City reserves the right to waive any irregularities or informalities in a bid and to reject any and all bids without cause.

Current minimum prevailing wage rates as published by the Alaska Department of Labor must be paid if required by law.

Requirements of the Alaska Employment Preference (AS 36.10) must be met.

The Valdez Planning and Zoning Commission will hold a public hearing on Wednesday, July 27, 2016 at 7:00 PM in the City Council Chambers. The purpose of the hearing is to take public testimony on a request from Myrna Dahl for an exception for her existing home which encroaches 2 feet into the Western side yard setback at 107 Eklutna Street. The property is located at Lot 9A, Block 7, Mineral Creek Subdivision.

Notice of this public hearing must be mailed to property owners within a 300-foot radius of the affected parcel. You are receiving this notice because your property is within the radius.

The public is encouraged to attend the public hearing. If attendance is not possible, comments may be presented to the Community & Economic Development Department in writing prior to the July 27th meeting.
