The Valdez Planning and Zoning Commission will hold a public hearing on Wednesday, September 13th, 2017 at 7:00 PM in City Council Chambers. The purpose of the hearing is to take public testimony on the request from Brad Barnett for an Exception to encroach one foot and 3 inches (1’3”) into the required twenty (20) foot front yard setback for a single family residence located at 355 Nebesna Street, Lot 15, Block 6, North Portion Mineral Creek Subdivision.

The public is encouraged to attend but if attendance is not possible, comments may be presented to the Community Development Department in writing prior to the September 13th meeting. A copy of the comments will then be presented to the Planning & Zoning Commission. Submissions by email may be sent to:

Legal Notice of Opportunity to Comment on Terrestrial Invasive Plant Treatment Project

The Chugach National Forest, Cordova and Glacier Ranger Districts, has prepared an environmental assessment (EA) for the Terrestrial Invasive Plant Management Project, which is now available for public review and comment. The purpose of this project is to control and eradicate current invasive plant infestations through integrated treatment methods including chemical (herbicide and adjuvant applications) and physical (mechanical and manual removal) treatments, and address future infestation areas through an early detection, rapid response approach. The scope of the analysis includes all terrestrial lands in the Prince William Sound Zone which includes National Forest Lands on Prince William Sound, the Copper River Delta and inclusions of State, Native, private, and municipal landownerships, as described in the EA. Any potential actions resulting from a decision regarding non-US Forest Service managed lands would be at the discretion of the respective land manager/owner.

This notice begins the 30-day comment period. Written, oral and electronic comments will be accepted for 30 calendar days following the publication of this notice in the Alaska Dispatch news and The Cordova Times, the newspapers of record for the Glacier and Cordova Ranger Districts, respectively. The publication date in the newspapers of record is the exclusive means for calculating the comment period for this analysis. The purpose of this comment period is to provide an opportunity for the public to provide input on a proposed action prior to a decision by the Responsible Official. Only those who submit timely and specific written comments regarding the proposed project during a designated public comment period established by the responsible official are eligible to file an objection. Those wishing to comment should not rely upon dates or timeframe information provided by any other source.

Comments must be within the scope of the proposed action, have a direct relationship to the proposed action, and include supporting reasons for the Responsible Official to consider. Persons submitting comments must provide: name and address, title of the proposed project, specific written comments, and signature or other verification of identity upon request. Other requirements to be eligible to submit an objection are listed at 36 CFR 218.25(a)(3). It is the responsibility of the sender to ensure timely receipt of any comments submitted.
