State champions: Lady Bucs win state title for the eleventh time

Valdez High School volleyball team takes top spot in 3A division yet again

from the 2015 title team) were ready and poised. The Bucs pounced early, dispatching the Nikiski Bulldogs 3-1, winning 25-14, 11-25, 25-13, 25-12. Next was the defending state champs; Mt. Edgecumbe Braves. Again the Bucs stayed focused and put away the Braves in three straight sets. 25-22, 25-17, 25-23. On to the Championship Bracket where the ladies faced a formidable Grace Christian school. Again the Lady Bucs prevailed, winning 3-1. 25-18, 25-11, 25-15, 15-25, 25-14. In the championship games, the Lady Bucs faced the hard hitting Barrow Whalers. In front of packed house at West Anchorage, the Valdez ladies proved they were the team to beat, ousting the Whalers in three. Valdez would not be outdone and brought home the title, 25-16, 25-21, 25-13.

ASAA All State Selections:

All State Players, Bobbi Mott, Sydnee Johnson, Linnea Langseth

Most Valuable Server 3A- Linnea Langseth

Championship Game STATS: Sydnee Johnson led the team in Blocking with 20 Blocks, 8 of those for kills. Bobbi Mott added 10 and 4 for Kills. Linnea Langseth led the team in digs with 34, Kendall Wesenberg added 16. Bobbi Mott had 14 kills and Sydnee Johnson also had 14. Setter Carlee Fleming and Kaylee MacDonald had 21 assists each. It was a great team a team we served 97 percent.
