Noise Disturbance: Caller reported loud music in the vicinity of Hanagita Street. Officers checked the area and were unable to hear any loud music.

MVA-D: A light pole in front of the Stampmill Restaurant was knocked over. VPD received a call from a witness and reported that a vehicle had backed into it and the driver, along with a passenger, got out of the vehicle and moved the pole off the road and then left the scene. Officers documented the scene and then posted a request for public assistance on the Valdez Police Department Facebook page. Citizen tips received from that posting directly led to Wyatt Townsend [10/1/1971] being identified as the driver. Officers issued him a criminal summons for Failure to Give Immediate Notice of Motor Vehicle Accident.

Traffic Complaint: Caller reported they were almost run off the road by a charter bus that was headed outbound.

Arrest Warrant: Rachelle R. Krause, DOB: 01/21/1981 of Valdez was arrested for Violating Conditions of Release on an original charge of Felony DUI when she was seen in an unapproved area while on electronic monitoring.

Lost Property: A wallet was lost between Napa and Peak’s Oil Office by Mark’s Repair. If found, please turn in to the Valdez Police Department.

Animal Impound: A large light colored dog was reported on Airport Road. An officer responded to the location and took the dog to the animal shelter.

Stop FI: An Officer made contact with adults drinking at Dock Point and advised them that they cannot drink there. They complied and put away the alcohol.

Burglar Alarm: A burglar alarm was activated at a local business. Officers checked the scene and it was secure.

Arrested: Monika A. White, DOB: 12/06/1972, of Valdez was arrested on a Valdez arrest warrant for Violation of Conditions of Release on an original charge of DUI when she missed several scheduled alcohol breath tests as part of her release.

Criminal Mischief: Report of vandalism at a local business. This case is under investigation.

Found Property: An axe was found on the road in Mineral Creek Canyon. This item may be claimed at the Police Department.

Suspicious Person: A caller reported two people looking around someone’s property and hauling off wood. Officers made contact with both individuals who stated they were just looking around. Officers advised them to stay away from the residence.


05/16

Noise Disturbance: Officers responded to a report of a noise disturbance. While on scene, Officers made contact with an individual who they determined to be unable to take care of himself due to his level of intoxication.

Title 47 ETOH: Officers committed an individual as a Title 47. The individual was heavily intoxicated and unable to care for themselves. He was transported to the Valdez Jail and later released when he was sober.

Animal Aggression: A large husky mix charged a woman and her dog. Caller reported there was an altercation and the dog ran back to its owner. ACO made contact with the owner and had a talk with them about the leash law.

Animal Aggression: A caller reported her dog was attacked by two dogs.

Suspicious Person: A complainant stopped by VPD to report suspicious activity by his house. He reported a brown van with three people walking through his yard taking pictures. Officers made contact and the occupant of the cab stated that he grew up in Valdez and wanted to take a picture of the house to send to his parents.

Suspicious Person: A caller reported that her neighbor called her and told her that someone was in her house in Heidenview Subdivision and there should not be anyone there. Officers checked on the residence and all was secure. There was a light on outside ran by solar power.

DUI: Arrested Lori A. Freel-Wik, DOB 2/16/1959, of Nikiski for DUI. She registered a breath-alcohol content of .179.

Family Issues: A person came to VPD to speak to an officer about issues they are having with their spouse.

05/18

Juvenile Issues: A father called to report his son did not come home the night before. He stated he would go check the last known location of his son. The father called back to notify us his son was at his friends house.

Bear Incident: A juvenile brown bear was on the tide flats.

Arrested: Chris White, DOB: 9/18/69 of Valdez was arrested for Violating Conditions of Release from his original case of DUI & Avoiding Ignition Interlock when he failed a scheduled breathalyzer.

Domestic Disturbance: A woman reported her boyfriend stole her phone and she could not function without it. She later called back and stated she was able to get a hold of him and he was returning her phone.

05/19

Summons: James M. January of Valdez, DOB 12/31/84 was summonsed for Criminal Trespass 1st Degree when he was caught on private property that was clearly marked as such.

Disturbance Other: A caller requested an Officer to help with neighbor issues. The caller allowed her neighbor to stay with her for a few days and now the person refused to leave.

Welfare Check: A welfare check was requested on an individual who may be suicidal and had been drinking. Subject was later found at their mother’s residence and did not appear to be a danger to themselves or others.

Traffic Complaint/Disturbance: A report of an older red Dodge pickup truck driving recklessly, speeding, and peeling rubber by Civic Center hill was received. Moment’s later VPD dispatch received another call reporting that a man was yelling obscenities and banging on someone’s door. Arrested: Timothy L Mills of Valdez, DOB 9/28/63 was arrested for Burglary 1st Degree, Assault 4th Degree, Assault 4th Degree, DUI, Disorderly Conduct, and Breath Test Refusal.

05/20

Trespassing: An individual who was trespassed from a local business was reported on the premises again. Officers removed the individual.

Theft of Property: A report of guns stolen from a local residence. This case is currently under investigation.

Drugs: Four juveniles were reported smoking marijuana in the green tunnel at the park strip by the college. Officers contacted the subjects and found no evidence of marijuana.
